A hazy mind and eyes that sting,

A restful night this bed must bring.

I cannot sleep; I cannot rest,

My brain’s not thinking at its best.

I see it tries to creep back in,

Depression cannot have this win.

I’ve done so well these past few weeks,

I’m showing the dimples on my cheeks.

Because I’ve been smiling every day,

But look; what’s happening today?

But I cannot sleep! I am so tired,

I feel like shit and undesired.

Dark semi-circles under my eyes,

An injured ego in disguise.

The restful slumber that I long,

How can I figure out what’s wrong?
