Dead Inside

Mangled up with heart contorted,

emotions gone from being thwarted.

Gripped and throttled, strangled mess,

I cannot care, I must confess.

I’d rather numbness, nothing nice,

than finding my head in a vice.

Arteries all shredded open,

but I have a tiny token;

one small glint, a little light,

kept for you while in my plight.

How long it lasts, there is no knowing,

the only thing that keeps me going.
