A A A

And you ask me to talk to you but I can’t

How can you ask a sister if they still talk to the man who took your innocence
If she sees your blood on his hands?
Does she have to wash it off every time they speak or
Does she not even realise what it is?

How do you look your mother in the face and ask if it counts as rape if you loved him
Was is rape if you cuddled after
Was it rape if your own body betrayed you
And you came to the sound of your soul shattering

And you said it’s better to open up

But I can’t even open my mouth for a proper meal, or to talk to people who care
All I can seem to open is old scars and fresh skin
And I will open my veins until I am exposed and pure
Until I don’t need to speak
Because my body is etched with the hieroglyphs of pain I cannot possibly translate

And you say “please… let us in”

But I am so full
And I am so tired

So I will close myself up
I will close you out
And I will carry on
