coastal breathing

new clean sheets, so you can sleep on my bed

I'll sleep on the couch, but I just wanna lay next to you instead

I don't ever want to see your brown eyes sad

or make you feel weak, like the boy's in your past

do you miss me when we don’t speak?

or does the breathing room make you happy?

I had a dream lastnight that I was hiding in your kitchen

and you lived across the street from an airport and I was so scared of leaving

I wanted you to come home, and push me on the couch

in my mind we would still be in love, and then I’d kiss you on the mouth

wishing we were airplanes, or angels, or whatever is floating above

we’re always so depressed, but that’s just cause we’re in love

I never want us to have a bad conversation

because that would be really lame

sometimes I want to flush you out my system

but I’d just end up smoking you again…

brace me for the madness, hold me on the rails when I’m gone

you’re gonna be busy this December, save lives and don’t do wrong

who am I to say anything

I can barely control myself, or my true intent

sometimes I want to reach out and say that I miss you

most likely I’ll just leave another text unsent

you get anxiety and sometimes you can barely leave the house

and that's when you call me at night, but I act like I haven't figured it out

with all the bad things going on in the world

is it really so bad to write these words down for a girl?

I guess I lack the mindset, for the temperament to ignore

the fact that things will never go back, to the way they were before
