The waves topple over as I dug my toes in the sand. It felt warm and thin as it withered around my flesh. I squinted out towards the ocean and fingered the shelled studded moat and gently stood up. Walking over I whipped off my flip flops and slowly tiptoed out to the shoreline, filled with tiny paddling waves.

Instantly, the moment my feet hit he water I shot out. It was freezing! I tried one more time, very slowly edging onto the turquoise water. As the cold water washed over my ankles, I shivered and looked out far beyond the sea. It had some sailing boats just floating wherever the wonder took it and the sunlight reflecting the waves mildly crashing over each other. Father would be so mad if he found out I was at the beach instead of doing chores at home. I wondered what punishment I would get. Maybe a full beating. I shuddered in fright.

But it didn't matter now. I was here at the beach and he wasn't here, yelling or cussing at me. I was in my own freedom for once. My eyes just couldn't be torn away from the ocean. It was like it had some sort of beauty effect on me, illuminating the shine that flowed on the dripping sand.  I finally knew what the secret was. It just laughed along with my as I smiled and crept further in the ocean till I was nearly waist deep, getting my shorts and t shirt all wet. It felt good to be walking away from home. I wish I could be here all the time. I knew also for a fact that if Father saw me in this state, I would have gotten a second beating! Oh well, I thought as I whisked further in. It's blue colour began to draw me in, second by second. Before I could memorise anything, I heard a shout. It was a male and it sounded awfully familiar. No it couldn't be Father?! He worked late shifts at the pub, as always. I turned around in the water and froze.

"ABIGAIL! HOW DARE YOU LEAVE THE HOUSE WITHOUT MY PERMISSION AND COME TO THIS FILTHY RAG OF A PLACE!!" He roared, grabbing attention from nearby beach visitors. I hesitated. Should I respond? My heart was beating so fast I thought I was going to have a heart attack! I considered. I could swim back and face beatings. Shudder. Or I could ignore him and... I swam off, ignoring my fathers outrageous cries. I was leaving. Goodbye Campsville Melodina. Hello future. I took of, waiting for the sea to take me somewhere.

Somewhere far beyond from this hell of a place....
