I often write short passages through the medium of a fictional character. He is a reflective and philosophising older gentleman in the possession of a gloomy yet blistering perception of the world.
This is the first entry of what you could perhaps call, an ongoing series....Enjoy!

"You can feel it, can’t you? The quiet suffering. The undisclosed turmoil of which strikes at the heart of each and every one of us. It’s there, I tell you, and it’s not going away. The crumbling, the nibbling uncertainty, and psychological instability, sometimes present in only a moment; a fleeting, but all-too familiar insight into the unravelling of those of which we encounter. Look closer. A wandering eye, a mere quiver in the way someone says a certain word. The nuances of conversation, hiding painfully behind forced smiles and clichéd sentiment. It’s there, in all of us, destructively weaving its dark magic in wait for an opportunity to manifest. My dear, this is what depression truly is, something innate, something in which we will never truly rid ourselves from, even on the sunniest of days or under the bluest of skies…there will always be this fucking feeling. A feeling of unrest. Of unease.

Of knowing that everything. Is. Doomed."
