Another World

Looking from your window there’s a feeling you’ve been hurled

to somewhere very different – a very different world.

The snow so thick upon the ground, it would reach to your knees,

but it has made real aliens from those familiar trees.

They’re rounded, with their branches gone, like some stooping giants;

a threat that they will cover you if you don’t offer them compliance.

But more stranger than these figures, look now to the sky,

streaked with colors, tinged with green, it makes you wonder why.

Has your world slipped in it’s orbit? Are you facing foreign ground?

The surreal experience is increased by lack of sound.

The winter has arrived now, along with the Northern Lights,

bringing another world with it to place there in your sights.
