"R-Ren...is there something we need to know?"

Mari asked while looking at me in the eye with a serious expression.

Everyone too, their faces show that they're being perplexed with the situation.

"...Big brother..." Aoi held my hand, and nodded as she also looked at me as a form of encouragement.

I also nodded at her, and I looked at everyone's eyes.

"Truth be told, there are beings much more fearsome than the Demon King." I said to them.

At my words, everyone except Aoi and Lerish raised their eyebrows in confusion and disbelief.

"Much more fearsome than the Demon King himself, huh?" Rin said while crossing her arms.

'What is he saying?' Each of them tried to understand what he is saying.

"But...the Demon King is the reason why we are sent into this world, right?" Kai said as he struggle to stand up.

Lerish and Aoi became shocked by Kai's words.

"Ren, you're..."

"...from another world?"

Both of them took a step back while looking at me with a confused expression.

"Aoi, Lerish..." I called out to them.

The two girls took a step further back, and slowly turned themselves away from me as they walked back to the inn.

"W-Wait, let me explain!"

I tried to chase after them, but Mari stopped me.

"You can tell everyone the truth later, Ren." Mari said to me. Feeling guilty, I nodded at her words.

-

A few hours has passed and I'm currently leaning my body on the handrail at the inn's balcony, waiting for the sun to rise on the horizon. I haven't slept after thinking so much of what to say in front of Aoi, Lerish and the others.

It's still dark, that's why if there's someone standing behind me I wouldn't notice.

"Haaaaahhh..." I sighed as I rested my chin on the bent handrail.

What should I do now? It's easy to tell the truth to them, but it's difficult for them to believe all of it.

They might resent me if I messed up.

While lamenting about my current situation, I heard the faint sound footsteps coming from behind. Even if I turn myself to them, I can't identify who they are because of the dark.

"W-Who's there?" I asked them.

Based from the sound, there are two people behind me.

"...Big brother..." The person spoke in a faint voice.

"A-Aoi?" I said as I turn myself towards them.

"Ren, um, anoo...I'm sorry for what I did earlier." The person beside her, Lerish, apologized in deep regret.

"...Me too, big brother! I'm sorry!"

Aoi also apologized to me.

"I-I should be the one to apologize! I'm sorry for not telling you the truth!"

I am the one who is in the wrong here. Kai is just not aware of the fact that I haven't told them about it.

"...Big brother, I thought...you'll leave me if you finally decide to go back to your world..."

Aoi sobbed as she spoke to me.

"M-Me too...I'm just afraid that you'll never come back to us when you're finally done with the responsibilities here in this world."

Lerish also spoke in a shaky voice.

I can't see their faces, but it's obvious from their words that they don't want me to leave them behind.

"Aoi, Lerish...for some reason, I, um...we can't go back yet."

I spoke to them.

"We, the [Promised Ones], are just ordinary people from our world transported here, a completely different world from ours."

Up until now, it's uncertain if there is a way to go back to our world.

"I haven't told it to you because, I'm afraid that you'll hate me if you found out that I'm an otherworlder."

It's a natural reaction for everyone to fear the unknown and the uncertain, so I understood their feelings.

"...Big brother...do you want to return to your world?"

Aoi asked me, her voice's filled with sadness.

"To be honest, yeah. I really wanted to go back."

I still have my family back in Earth, so I don't want them to be worried about my disappearance.

"But since the time that I met you, I thought...I want to stay here. I want to stay right at your side as always!"

My goal in life...is to be the best brother Aoi can have.

I walked slowly towards them, even though I can't see what's in front of me.

"If I ever have to go back to our world, I will bring you with me!" I said as I embraced the person in front of me.

"R-Ren...?" Lerish muttered in surprise.

"A-Ah, aree?"

The one in front of me wasn't Aoi...but Lerish.

"A-Aoi...is standing beside me." Lerish said while being embarrassed.

S-She's right. It's impossible for Aoi to have a perfectly-sized chest with that small body of hers.

"I-I'm sorry!" I quickly distanced myself away from Lerish.

"I-It's okay! Rather, I'm so happy right now that it happened."

"...Fuuu. Big brother, I'm here!"

Aoi hugged my arm while being angry.

"I'm sorry Aoi. It's too dark here hahaha."

"...Big brother, you pervert." Aoi rubbed her cheeks at my arm while clinging on it.

I could only pat her head as I apologize to her.

-

The sun was about to rise when they decided to go back inside the inn.

I just stared at the horizon as I waited for the sun to come out.

"It's a wrong idea to stay awake all night, I guess."

I haven't slept at all since dinner, that's why I'm feeling so sleepy right now.

"Time for me to go back to my room and..."

As I turn myself towards the door, I saw Karen standing right in front of me.

"K-Karen..."

"Um, anoo...can I talk with you?"

Karen spoke while being nervous.

"U-Uhh, Nn." I nodded at her.

"I-I brought breakfast as well, so that you won't be hungry."

She said while offering a small box to me.

"Thanks, Karen." I said to her while accepting the food from her.

I opened the box.

"I made only sandwiches, but I hope that you like it." She said in a shy manner.

"I-It's okay! I'm so thankful that you made these for me..." I replied to her in panic.

We sat on the bench on the side of the balcony, while facing the horizon. I took a piece of sandwich, and ate it.

"Mmm...it's good, Karen."

It's been a long time since the last time I ate a ham and cheese sandwich.

Karen placed her hand on her chest as she sighed in relief.

"W-What do you want to talk about?"

While eating, I asked her. Her shoulders twitched at my question.

"Ren...remember the promise that we made that night?"

"Nn. Yeah."

"Will you listen to what I say?"

She looked at me with upturned eyes.

"O-Okay." I nodded at her.

There are things I also want to ask her, but I decided to listen to whatever she will say to me.

"R-Ren, I..."

She took a deep breath to calm herself down.

"Ren, all this time, I..."

Her face started to become red as she looked into my eyes. She swallowed her saliva while thinking of what she should say at this point.

"Karen...?" I looked at her in worry.

She lightly patted her cheeks with her hands, and looked at me with eyes of conviction and seriousness.

"Ren, I love you!"
