Aoi asked the mysterious man wearing a boar-faced mask.

"It is just as I said. A warning." The man said to her.

"What do you really plan on doing to her?" I asked the man as I summoned Nadir and hiding Aoi behind me.

"Ah, you must be the rumored ruler of [The Fool]?" The man said in a carefree manner.

"Don't change the subject." I said in a serious tone.

"Ah, my bad. Like I said as always. We have no intention to fight, especially against the Death Goddess."

The masked man looked at Aoi, and she hid her face away from him.

"You're the ones who sealed Aoi right? Why would I believe what you just said?"

"It seems that you've become too protective of her. Very well, we shall disarm ourselves in front of you so that you'll believe what I'm saying."

When he said that, he removed a sword from its sheath hanging on his waist and dropped it on the ground. Following his example, everyone also dropped their weapons and piled them in front of me.

"Everyone of us can't use magic, that's why rest assured that we're all incapable of harming the two of you now."

In my mind, I did a quick search of all of their weapons. It seems that everyone really became stripped of their weapons--wait...

One of the men surrounding us has a small dagger concealed inside the sleeve of his robe.

I muttered to the robed man behind me, and instantly he collapsed to the ground.

I could sense so much killing intent from him, that's why I made a blood clot on one of the blood vessels on his brain.

"You can't fool me."

I only said to the man that I will call as Boar Mask.

"Ah. Forgive us for that. It seems that he wants to do things on his own." He said in an apologetic tone.

As I thought. They're really fishy.

"Then, shall we proceed?" He asked.

"Nn." I nodded.

"A warning: eleven of the twelve Archons of the Lumiari have approved the production and use of a secret magic weapon capable of killing even an [Old God]."

He said in a serious tone.

"Archons?" Intrigued, I asked him.

"Our organization, the Lumiari has an Archon that governs each of the twelve regions of this world. With that being said I, the Boar has the responsibility to observe and interfere with the state of affairs of the countries in the Central Triangle."

Central Triangle. Arandel, Narashel, Rashaim. Three of the most powerful countries in this world.

"With the power struggle happening right now inside the organization, aggravated with the escape of the Death Goddess, everyone's at loss on what to do next."

He's saying that, if the organization that governs the world behind the scenes fall into chaos, the whole world will fall as well?

"Then, they all decided to eliminate the root of all suffering in this world. You, Death Goddess, have been marked for death."

When he said that, Aoi cowered behind me. I turned myself behind, and held her hands that trembled in fear.

"Don't worry. I will protect you from those bad guys."

I calmly said to her with a smile.

"It's not true that you're the root of all the suffering in this world. It's just their prejudice that they're afraid of you and your powers."

All misconceptions about her...I want them all to be gone. Everyone should not revere her because of fear, but because of her importance as a god.

If in Hinduism there is Brahma, there is also a Shiva. Without a goddess like Aoi, this world has already fallen apart right since the beginning.

Still, a weapon that could kill even Aoi. This is a very serious matter.

"What about that weapon?" I looked over my shoulder towards Boar Mask.

"Ah. About that...since I gave a no as a verdict they didn't let me have the details regarding the weapon. All I know is that, the production for it hasn't started yet as of now." He said.

He gave us too little information, but it's enough for us to prepare.

"...Why did you refuse?" Aoi, while feeling scared, asked him in a faint voice.

"Honestly, I'm tired of all their crap. From the outside we may look like a very powerful organization, but the foundation has been crumbling ever since the great war between the gods."

He said while being disappointed.

"I thought to myself, 'how about I spice up things a little?', then I decided to do things on my own. With them being busy in all of their bullshit, I took that opportunity to approach you guys."

I can't see his face under his mask, but I'm sure he's grinning right now.

"With the two of you knowing some relevant information, I'm sure you will do something about it. Hahahaha!" He said while laughing.

This person is too open that I find it too suspicious.

"W-What will you gain from this?" I asked him while being confused.

"Hmmm...I guess if the organization were to crumble, it would be a chance for me to rule it on my own."

So it's just a personal motive in the end. How cunning.

"Then, how can we make sure that everything you've said is true?"

"With this."

He tossed something towards me. I caught it in my hands, and I saw that it is a pendant with a red gem in the center.

"You have [The High Priestess], right? You'll find out if I'm lying or not."

I used [Information] on the pendant.

{Leyafrist Gem: A gem used to extract information from a victim. Explodes upon determining that the victim's statements are false.}

"Now that you see that it hasn't exploded yet means that everything that I said is true. Pretty convenient, right?"

This as sly as a fox, or maybe a boar.

"I will observe the situation for the meantime. Maybe if I felt like it I could share the information I gathered to you. Well then, we'll take our leave, Death Goddess."

He bid farewell to us, and they all disappeared like those ninjas in an anime that I watched with Rin before.

The man who collapsed earlier, someone carried him along with them.

With just the two of us being left behind, I checked Aoi's condition.

"They're gone. You can rest easy now."

Aoi is still trembling, so I embraced her.

"It's okay. As long as I'm here I won't let anyone hurt you. I will kill them before they could do that."

"...N-Nn." She nodded timidly.

"Let's go back. It's too dangerous here."

I held her hand, and we walked back towards the inn.

"...Thank you, big brother." She said with a faint smile.

While we're walking while holding hands, my eyes are looking at the pendant on my other hand that glimmered in the moonlight.
