Blood rushing, heart pounding, and an urge to flee, I sat motionless enclosed by rotting brick walls staring out at a single dim street light across the road. A bead of sweat streamed down my forehead and onto my nose. It finally dropped in a perfect sphere onto the paved ground and froze instantly. Numbed by the frigid weather, I could feel nothing but my insides pounding and an internally consuming hole in my stomach. My lungs filled to the brim with musty air, I exhaled, the icy atmosphere took over my breath as the steam-like air poured out of my mouth. Once the cloud of condensation, weighted by the cold, fell to the ground I gasped at a truly horrifying sight. "No, this can't be happening!" I exclaimed. I took deep drafts of the contaminated oxygen and rapidly puffed it out. As the cloud of my breath precipitated, it was apparent that the sight was no illusion. A shadowy figure, darker than the night, stood at the end of the alley. Its shape was that of a man but its aura was unworldly. The appearance of such a ghastly sight threw me into a spiral of distress and a fervor of emotions began to flow through me. With every breath, my body now quivered uncontrollably. An echoing tap rang in my ears with each step the figure took towards me. Afraid for my life I began to pray, however, the persisting steps were overpowering. I began to scream, yet the steps were prevalent still as the sounds drew nearer. Now hyperventilating, I let out one last shriek in desperation as the figure's darkness began to consume me...
