The Winters

Looking from my window,

right there in my sight,

falling from the sky above

there are big flakes of white.

She’s paying us a visit,

the Winter sister, Snow;

it’s not that I’m ungrateful

but I really wish she’d go.

She really is quite beautiful,

as she drapes herself around;

she lightens up the darkness

as she covers up the ground.

Her looks, though, are deceptive,

they are but a mask;

her sister who just tags along,

is vicious. Need you ask?

For the other sister, Winter,

makes no pretence of being nice;

she’ll deal out lots of damage

for her name, well, she’s called Ice.

She’ll hide behind her sister,

she loves to catch you out;

when you find your feet sliding around

you’ll lose remaining doubt.

It makes me feel a sense of dread,

when the Winter sisters visit,

but they cause such a hassle,

it’s not surprising, is it!
