I know you’re gone and I accept,

The things I knew I would expect.

I know it’s hard; your pain infer,

But I also know that you’ll return.

And so this love I will enhance,

When you subside to give me a chance.

I do believe I’m doing better,

It’s been a month for all that matters.

I have adapted to the days,

And grown accustomed to your ways.

I have cried my aching heart out,

And taught my lungs on how to shout.

I’ve spent time and restless nights,

With ponderous thoughts and so much fright.

But in the midst; here I am,

Wanting you to understand.

That I am growing bit by bit,

It’s something that I must admit.

But it’s only been a little while,

My face has yet to complete a smile.

Time is somewhat being kind,

Although you’re always on my mind.

Whether you believe or disbelieve,

This is what I have conceived.

Life without you has little meaning,

I swear it’s true what I am feeling.

So dearest muse and ‘Summer night’,

I love you truly with all my might.
