I'm not sure of what to feel when I'm with you, but I'm prepared for you to be a lesson, a blessing, or both. I see me within you and while it amazes me and makes me hopeful, it frightens me.

Hours go by in moments.

A touch turns into an embrace.

My energy transitions from icy to scolding.

My emotions take roller coaster rides.

I’m afraid but I’m hopeful.

When you’re away, the days feel like weeks.

When you’re near, I fight to not touch you every second.

I’m no longer numb, but for the first time, I’m unsure of what to feel.

When I’m in your arms, my fear of the world drifts away like the waves of the ocean drift away from shore as the sun rises.

When I look into your eyes I see… I see…

I see hope, pain, weakness, and strength.

For the first time, I see a person as a whole.

Yes, I’m afraid, but not of you.

What I am afraid of…

Is the reflection of myself that I see in your eyes.

And I… am the only thing I’ve ever been truly afraid of.
