The boxes were all packed up and they were on their way to the house. The large dark house was far away and hidden from everything. It had poisoned ivy crawling up the sides of it like spiders legs. Anna walked up the stairs and into her bedroom. She switched on the light. It flickered like a candle. After dinner Anna walked back up to her room, leaving the door open. She crawled into her bed and shut her eyes. But there was a quiet whispering noise coming from the corner of her room. It sounded like her name was being said over and over again. She looked around the room, but nothing was to be seen. She shut her eyes again and tried to ignore it. But this time her light started flickering faster. The light switch flicked on and off. The whispering got louder. Something was in her room. When the lights stopped flickering as much and Anna couldn’t hear anything anymore, she managed to fall asleep. She woke up, startled. The whispering was back again. The curtain swayed slowly. The light switched on and off. Anna’s heart racing, covering her ears as she turned over onto her side, curling up into a ball. A glowing creature moved slowly towards the young whimpering girl. Its head dangling down to the ground with its hair over its face. Anna let out a cry for help. “I saw something. It was just in my room!” Her mother entered the room. Nothing was there. She was speechless. She sat next to Anna until she managed to fall asleep. Then she quietly crept back into her own bedroom.

In the morning Anna told Miranda, her sister about the creature she saw, “It’s head was dangling down to the ground with its hair over its face. It was whispering my name as it slowly walked towards me. I think it must have been a ghost.” Miranda was speechless. Later that night, Miranda had a dream about a ghost walking towards her slowly, just like her sister had explained. But the ghost was calling Anna’s name. Miranda woke up in fright. There it was. The creature was standing in her bedroom. Miranda screamed in terror. Their mother ran into the room. “I saw it too. I saw the creature that Anna saw.” Their mother gasped in shock. “But...it was saying Anna’s name.” Miranda slowly explained. “Stay here and don’t come out of your room.” The mother said to both of her children, just before she rushed to every door in the house, locking them. A piercing scream came from a room near Miranda’s. Miranda quietly walked out of her room. “Mum?” She called. There was no reply. She wandered over to her sister’s room, pushing the door open slowly. Miranda stared at her sister. She was lying in bed, facing the door. There was blood slowly pouring out of her mouth. “What have you done to my sister. Where is my mother.” Miranda shrieked. The ghost’s tilted head turning towards her. It lifted its hair of its face. “I am your mother. I locked you in the house.”
