Your Own Worst Enemy

Hi, it’s me, your worst enemy. Do you feel that? The bruises on your skin, the pain in your organs, that would be me. Your fingers grip you skin in reaction to your heart suffocating you; that would also be me. Every monster that you see, every monster that you feel; I make them for you, my gift to you for being alive. You didn’t think I could do all this destroying on my own, did you? Although I wish I could say I was that good, but sadly I’m not, though I did make everything in your mind that is tearing you apart; so maybe I am that good. Your brain beats you to death every night till you fall asleep with dried tears on your cheeks, only for you to wake up minutes later with the sun burning in your eyes. Walking around with the purple rings under your eyes to show every strong human that you are being turned into the monster that you are. I’m here to hurt you, mind, body and soul. I strip you layer by layer, till you’re bare bones for everyone to see. But even then, its not good, your bones aren’t white enough, so that’s when I cut and carve you to perfection. The knives I use, dull; and the mirror I use to show you off, warped. This is how you see me, yes? You see me as you worst nightmare, something to be killed, but maybe it is your eyes that are warped. Those scares and bruises you see, those are war paint. Bodies that take a beating are strong and determined, it takes bricks to bring them down. Those demons you hear whisper in your ear at night, they are your armor. Everything with atoms is hesitant of the things they cannot see. Demons are your friends, the friend that will always tell you how it is and prepare you for the worst. They are there to build you up and keep you strong. You see me as your worst enemy, you made me your own worst enemy. I did not intend to carve you down to bone, you made me; I didn’t want you to have to see the face of fear, but I was left no choice. Hi, it’s me, your worst enemy. Do you feel that, the sting in your eye? I just made you cry.
