Pine ran until her legs wouldn't take her any farther. She stopped, soaking wet, in the middle of a rainstorm. And the worst part was, the barn was still almost a mile away. Stupid humungous wheat farm.

So she picked herself up, and dragged her body half a mile to the grass. Which was even worse. Grass, when wet, it carries water down to the ground. Therefor making it even more wet and muddy and gross than a wheat field. Which Pine didn't know was possible until she started working in the field.

As Pine sloshed through the muddy, puddle-y, gross, grass on her way to the barn, she spotted something out of the corner of her eye. Note to self: Don't glance or look sideways when walking through gloopy mud. She fell on her face in the mud. From her lovely view through the 'mudmask' she was now wearing, she could clearly see her name. Her name. Pine. She shoshed over to it.

The dark green paint was hardly visible through the rain, and it was painted on a pine tree, so Pine didn't know how on Earth she'd seen it from that far away. Under her name was a small box made from pine wood. Naturally, it had her name above it, so she picked it up and opened it. Inside was something she never thought she'd see in her entire life.
