In a world that steals our sons away, we must leave a trail for them to follow home

We lose our sons in a thousand different ways,

With light taken out of their eyes.

The first time pornography

Shows women for sex and sighs.

When someone steals our boy's first kiss

and leaves them in the cold.

The days they waste their energies

Chasing fools and gold.

The times when they can't hear us at all

because they've strayed too far.

The year life beats them to the ground

and the silent tears fall hard.

Yet while our lost boys lose their way

we've taught them how to go.

The long road back has many signs

should they ever long for home.

You will lose your sons in shattered pieces,

You will cut your hands on their shards.

You will lose them, dear mother, in thousands of ways

May they return to you in thousands from afar.
