Never Be Enough.

She looked into his eyes. She couldn’t bear it, not really, but the words needed to be said, needed to be spoken RIGHT NOW.

She felt as though her mouth was full of glue; her tongue did not want to let her form the words, but somehow she would have to find a way to spit them out before the tears started falling. For then it would be too late.

"Danny, it’s no good, is it?”

He didn’t ask but she saw the question forming on his face.

"She hurt you so, so badly.” She pauses, just for a split second, getting herself under control to continue. “But it’s still her that you love, not me. You can’t get over her betrayal and allow yourself to trust me enough, can you? I’m always going to be compared to her. I hoped you’d let her go, but perhaps you can’t.”

"What are you saying?” Danny finally finds his voice.

"I’m saying that it’s over. The pretence that I mean anything to you. While you still cling on to her you cannot care about me. Live with your dreams if you must, but I can’t."

She turns, doesn’t look back; is gone.
