"Ring around the rosie, a pocketful of posy, ashes, ashes we all fall down." Voice is floating down the halls, echoing around my brain, ashes, ashes, THEY ALL FALL DOWN. Humming, humming, clothes are dirty, hands are scraped and feet are bare. Rosie, ROSIE WHERE ARE YOU? WHERE HAVE YOU GONE ROSIE? Did Polly take you? "ROSIE! Rosie? Are you there. Can you hear me? Ashes, ashes, WE ALL FALL DOWN!" Giggles, giggles, can't hear the screams, Where are the screams? Oh no, mouth is open, screams from me. Tee-hee. Ashes, ashes, WE ALL FALL DOWN.

"Alice, are you there?" the doctor here now, don't want doctor. DOCTOR GONE, doctor BAD. Door opens. Oh no, here she comes. But not alone. NOT ALONE. Raabt and King with her, oh no. Stand up now, stand up to doctor, bye-bye doctor. "Come out, Alice. We have to take you somewhere." NO, NO, NO! ALL THE WAY DOWN WE GO, all the way down the slide. Catch me Rosie! Whee, down I fall. Where are you Rosie? Rosie is gone. NO POLLY, go away, GO AWAY. Pulling me up, up, up we go, like balloons in the sky, but don't let go. Hum- hum, pull me along, feet drag. Drag, drag, drag on the ground, no pain, no pain. Rosie, look at all those hands, pull at the bars hands, but they won't open up. Open up, open up, like all the little people. Silly people. SILLY PEOPLE, stomachs open up, up they open. Hum hum, what's inside? Let's see, ROSIE COME SEE. Rosie, where are you? WHERE ARE YOU ROSIE? Gone, gone with the bad doctor. Bye- bye doctor, time to go down the hole.

Kicking, kicking, down they go. DOWN THEY FALL LIKE BRICKS IN THE WALLS. Walls around where? Where, Rosie? TELL ME ROSIE.

Oh- no, up I go. UP I GO. BALLOONS EVERYWHERE NOW. Whee, fly away now. Oh screaming screaming, how we go, no, NO, I DON'T WANT TO GO.  Go now doctor, bye-bye. Run away, THEY ALL RUN AWAY, but I catch them. Silly people, SILLY PEOPLE, open up, UP THEY OPEN. ROSIE COME SEE, come see Rosie. Rosie, is that you? No, NO, just the doctor. Doctor and the bad men. GO AWAY BAD MEN. Run, run, run away from the bad men, RUN AWAY ROSIE.

Look here they come, and I'm falling, falling down the hole, catch me Rosie. Down I fall, catch me Rosie. Catch me, but not Rosie, no, NO. BAD MEN CATCH ME. SCREAM ROSIE, scream for me. Screaming now, voice is floating down the halls. Look how they curl, look how they break, like glass. BREAK LIKE GLASS. Splintering? Nope, not yet NOT YET. Here they go, up I go, but don't let go. DON'T LET GO ROSIE. ROSIE! GO AWAY BAD MEN, I NEED TO SEE ROSIE. ROSIE, CAN YOU HEAR ME ROSIE? ROSIE? NO ROSIE DON'T GO. "LET GO I NEED TO SEE ROSIE!" pulling away, away. Pulled back. "ROSIE! ROSIE CAN YOU HEAR ME? ROSIE!" Getting dizzy, round and round the walls spin. "Rosie, rosie….." Oh-no, getting dark, no, no, NO! Brighten up, turn on the light Polly then go, GO AWAY POLLY! Here I come back. Look at me Rosie, can you see me now Rosie? Can you see me light up? The bad men are taking me somewhere, WHERE ARE THEY TAKING ME ROSIE? ROSIE, CAN YOU HEAR ME ROSIE? Catch me Rosie, don't let me fall. Don't let me fall, please don't let me fall Rosie, don't leave me Rosie, stay with me. Stay with me Rosie.

Into the room, oh-no, here we go again. SCREAM FOR ME ROSIE! GET ME OUT OF HERE ROSIE. Get me out. Strapping me in, no Rosie, don't let them, don't go away. Come help me Rosie, scream for sme Rosie. No, no, they are strapping down my arms, help me Rosie, don't let me fall. There go my legs, HELP ME ROSIE! Can't you see me? ROSIE CAN YOU SEE ME? Oh-no, can't scream anymore, SCREAM FOR ME ROSIE, SCREAM! Look at them turn it up Rosie, all the way up, up, up like a balloon, but don't let go. DON'T LET GO ROSIE. Here they come, see how they come, see how they run, LOOK OUT ROSIE! LOOK OUT. Here they go, coming towards me, look at the blue lights, look how they shimmer. ROSIE LOOK UP, CAN YOU SEE THE SKY NOW, ROSIE?

Here they are Rosie, right in front of me, talking around my head, see how they talk at me? Listen to the monkey chatter, Rosie. LISTEN TO ME, ROSIE.

"Shocking patient now," Doctor says, oh-no "70 volts to start with,"

Can you hear the electricity, ROSIE. CAN YOU HEAR ME?

"100 volts,"

CAN YOU HEAR MY HEARTBEAT, ROSIE? Look at how red I am, LOOK AT ME ROSIE!

"120 volts,"

Black, black, what can I see, nothing, Rosie, I see nothing. CAN YOU SEE ME ROSIE? I'm fading away Rosie, can you pull me back, Rosie? PULL ME BACK ROSIE, DON'T LET ME FALL!

Rosie, Rosie? Are you there Rosie, can you hear me. Rosie……….

As her body jerked with the last shock, my heart stuttered with hers. That blond hair that used to be styled into sweet pigtails was a mess around her head. Those soft little hands I used to hold are chaffed and scratched. Her bright eyes are glassy, and I wonder for a second if I've finally lost her, as if all the karma has caught up, but they flicker, and she's back.

Her mouth twists into a grimace, and I crack beneath her stare. My heels clicked across the floor, the sound reverberating around the silent room. And then she looks up, and I see the gravity of it all.

"Rosie," my voice cracks, "I'm so sorry." tears stream down my face, a sob breaking free of my chest.

Her face remains blank, only slightly tinted with any emotion, hidden beneath her exterior. "Polly," she says quietly, cautiously, "What happened?" It sounds like a question, but she knows as well as I our situation.

"Is she gone," I say tentatively to someone, anyone. I need to know, even if I already do.

"No, she's still here," Rosie says, the emotion catching in her throat, "she's still here."

It's all crashing around us, at that moment the sky could fall, and I don't think we  would have noticed. The silence is suffocating me, her, all of us but, none of us dare break it. Her lights are fading, I can feel it in her, see them in her, see her in her, coming out. The lights are bright in my eyes, and gone in hers, nothing but darkness, not a spark.

"Take her back," I tell them, voice breaking, "just get her out of here."
