Anonymous

A single face in a place of many,

Easily seen but forgotten just as soon.

No money to the name, not even a penny,

All identity lost in swirling monsoon.

Anonymous is the name,

Unknown is the being.

Lost in a frenzy is the game,

Finding nothing freeing.

No relief, no escape from torrential rains,

Which threaten to drown everything out.

Identity causes many pains,

Dripping emotions from streaming spout.

Too timid or too bold,

Too weak or too strong.

Too young or too old,

They’ll always find something wrong.

Without knowing me,

It’s easier to bear the world.

Is this how I want to be?

My identity never unfurled?

Anonymous, you see.

That’s me.
