It's harder to get up the second time because you saw how far you fell and how much farther you need to go.

You slip,

Farther down.

The darkness,

You were fighting,

Pulled your right back down.

It attacks the small fire in you,

Smothering it out,

Leaving you hopeless.

Moving is exhausting,

Demons whisper in your ear,

Stop… stop.

Their slimy bodies stick,

Making you bear their weight,

Until you sink to your knees.

Casting your gaze up,

You search,

For that light you used to see.

It’s gone,

And the wall you fell down,

Is stepper than before.

Cold seeps into everything,

Numb to the whole world,

Nothing seems bright.

Eyes that used to search,

That found the way out,

Now are closed.

Soon the darkness,

Is all that there is,

And you can barely see yourself.

You wonder,

How did I do this before,

And the last of hope falls down your face.

Then you feel something,

A pull at your shoulder,

You scream and pull away.

It isn’t pulling you down though,

It's pulling the demons off,

Whipping your tears.

They’re hands,

They’re your friends,

Holding you up.

Fighting for you,

Loving you,

When you can’t.

They shine some light,

And you remember,

This is how I did it.

I was seen,

I had help,

Because I couldn’t do it myself.

You remember that’s ok,

This is why,

You have loved ones.

Because you can’t,

No one can,

Do this alone.
