An attempt at writing something more fictional. I think everybody has felt stifled, suffocated at some point.

The Metro

The distant sounds echo away,
My brothers are fallen, yet I remain,
He shall not come for me today,
Continue I must, though bound in chain,

Light is gone, and dark has come,
Vision fades, replaced by blindness,
Move, death over there comes from,
The rush of adrenaline feels like a virus,

Bones and dust crunch beneath my feet,
The beast draws closer, pursuing his meat,
Flashes of light blaze into the black,
Bullets I don't have ricochet and crack,

Broken paths and broken ways,
I cannot escape, this place is a maze,
A vestige of home filled with death,
Screeching echoes come, I count my breath,

This place is extinction, we won't last,
I close my eyes, and remember the past,
I cock my weapon, step out into the Metro,
I'll die with my people, you will come in tow,
