A friend criticizes my work, only for me to discover that I actually shocked the beliefs that he took for granted.

My best friend is my harshest critic
What does that in nature mimic?
Like a woodpecker being civic
Or a parent being the best cynic

Read my work and based my head
told me they worst words he's read
Everything I liked he hated instead
till I wished I hadn't heard a word he said

Then after a though I found that I
did shock him out of his truth and lie
'cause he cataloged every laugh and cry
and thought no one would ever ask him why

It is hard to put a magnifying mirror to the face
And reject what one day you used to embrace
Deny then deny then deny then project and deface
Writing's purpose is to shake the foundtion of false faith

All these words adopted me a kid and otherwise till now
He borrowed and used it to live by it somehow
Now that I ask him to read with a heart his mind somehow
tricks him into believing he can rip what I sow

His message to me was that there was no message
in a story where others saw me cross life's passage
but instead gave me words that lead me to the worst image
of myself and that I just wanted to drop baggage

He's my best and now he's my worst but I don't know which
I don't know if time and place helped ripped the seams or stitch
He's in the homeland and I'm on foreign territory trying to reach
the bridge of language to founded truths and he was my witch
