Poverty.

A new weather to change us is all we wished for

We prayed for the rains but our drought remained

When we were silent a flood came

Our perfection never seemed to be

Our adults told stories of former success

Yet what we experienced was a constant let down

The stories we all knew of a forme r bread basket

The pictures of war, shoved in our sights

History into our present

Speeches given of our former glory

Yet we never won

And we still drank from the cup of past glory

Very well written. Things certainly change with time, and the changes can be heartbreaking. We are powerless to change anything at times, like bring the rain.

Life is comparable to rhythm. It consists of sweet and bitter moments. Good work there!

It seems like the past is always better and sometimes that can be true.
