Something really quite horrific happened in London on Monday.

How Can It Happen?

Monday morning, early, before 7am. A woman in her 20’s or 30’s is killed in a hit-and-run. Not so unusual or uncommon, you might think. But there is something a bit different about this particular case.

Police believe that the woman was hit by an HGV (Heavy Goods Vehicle) on a pedestrian crossing – again, it happens – it shouldn’t but it does. What makes this accident so newsworthy is that not only was she hit by one HGV, but then by another. She was also subsequently hit by two cars. Not one of the drivers of these vehicles stopped.

Hard to believe, isn’t it? But that is what happened in Tulse Hill, London, on Monday 11th December 2017. Is this really the kind of society that we are living in now? It would seem so.

I know, Jalisbeth! I felt a bit bad writing about this and putting a damper on any festive mood but things like this can't just be ignored.

Thanks so much for reading.

It struck me as unbelievable, so I had to check it out. You could imagine one not stopping, maybe, but four!

Thanks for reading, Mike.

Jeff Bezaire

It reminds me of something that happened in China several years back that was caught on a traffic camera. An infant was hit by a car and lied dead in the streets. It was run over by countless cars and trucks that didn't care to either stop or drive around it. Finally, after a half-hour or longer, a driver stopped, picked up the baby, and dropped it by the curb where it'd be out of traffic's way. No one called the police or hospital, no driver or pedestrian - everyone ignored the dead baby in the road and went about their day.
Some people are just too busy to care about a stranger, I guess . . . :(

That's terrible too, Jeff. I just think it's such a shame how everything seems to have got so cold and callous.
Thanks so much for reading.

I heard about this on the news Hully! Absolutely shocking, what sort of people would do that? I too found it unbelievable, but sadly, its true. SICKENING!

It's kind of like we're all dispensable, or valueless......I don't know how it's got to be this way! Like you, my initial impression was that it couldn't be true.

Thanks for taking the time to read and comment, Sue!

There can't be any excuses Mama Hullabaloo. Probably in too much of a rush and getting out would hold them up. Society isn't very social sometimes. Usianguke.

You can say that again! It was one of those things that struck me as not being possibly true but it was.

Thanks so much for taking the time to read and comment, Moa.
