Aberath's Caliber
It wasn't the raids that ended Aberath. Nor the sickness known as Fels Curse.  Nay it wasn't even the bloody whisper that drove half the kingdom mad. No, what ended Aberath was its own blasted king, Its own blasted guards and of course, me. It happened to be six years before the kingdom fell; I was recruited into the royal guard. Could you imagine my joy! Over the next four years I worked close to the king. He was a good man, King Favor, but even that didn't stop the near constant attacks from neighboring kingdoms. I do think that of everything that happened it was the raids that pushed him over the edge.  It was my fifth year in the kings service when I was called to deliver a message to the kingdom beside us know as Heron. The message was vital. The message carried more weight in my hand then even the broadsword strapped to my back. The message was a call to arms. I took my horse to the first port and from there sailed to the port Venrasad. Because the travel expenses were so high this time of year I couldn't afford another horse if I wanted to make it back to Aberath in a timely fashion. So I walked an extra day and ended up camping outside the city. In the morning I entered the Heron and requested to see the King. It took a few hours but soon enough I was before the King. After delivering my message I turned to leave but before I made it out the door  the King of Heron stopped me. He had a sad look in his eyes. After a quiet second he handed me the letter. Breaking the seal I read as follows. " I Favor do turn my kingdom over in midst of a crysis to Royal Knight Triston in the Eyes of God and the King of Heron let no man revoke this right. Forgive me my loyal servant I saw no man greater to take my place. When you return Aberath will most likely be in ruins. No less then four kingdoms joined forces against us and Vowed to leave nothing but rubble where Aberath now stands. This rubble is now yours." It took several days but with the help Of the King of Heron I made it back to Aberath, Or what was left of it. The castle was in flames and the city pillaged. It was a dark future I had left to conquer. I set out on my quest to reclaim my kingdoms honor. I set out to reclaim Aberath's Caliber.
