Sickle Moon
Sharp and thin
you’re hanging there,
slicing through
.
You’re glowing
with a coldness,
slashing through
the night sky;
millions of tiny
stars stand guard;
ready to follow
should you say go.
Cruel and beautiful,
enough to take
my breath away.
You kill me
with your
presence.

There is a stark beauty here...in this poem...
Maybe your best that I have read...
The moon looks odd this year as if the Earth has tilted...The sickle rests on its side..at the bottom of the moon from my vantage point..
I never thought of the moon this way, excellent, Hull!
The evocative moon eh, Mama Hullabaloo! Brings out all sorts of emotions for different people. I think the new moon is a smile. Usianguke
A chilling sickle moon with its army of tiny stars... wonderful atmospheric and evocative poem Hully. Brilliant.
Wow! Such a beautiful and mysterious poem, Hully. I liked it very much. It had that mystical feel to it. Very well done.
Spectacular :D
I love the cold strait to point, brutal matter of fact, beautiful honesty..
you captured the moment perfectly.
A wonderful poem, Hully! Love the characterization you give the sky's family - be it the moon is a commander and the stars its soldiers, or the moon is a beacon and the stars its followers. Interesting to look upon the moon and see its ugliness, as well. Most people only see the beauty in the moon, but there is a dark side to everything and the moon hides its dark side in the night sky. Nicely done!
Very Nice Hull, a simple moon can have a lot to say...Tom...
Lovely poem. Im trying to write a poem about the moon, haven't got very far, though.
