Don’t Pretend!
Don’t pretend
to understand,
you haven’t got
a clue.
Always, always
in the way,
possessions
reduced to trash.
Nothing, no one
any more,
ever calling at
my door.
You’ve no idea,
shut your eyes,
I’m ready now
to close my mind.
Enough’s been done,
enough’s been said,
reality exorcising
dreams from my head
without them
I’ll be left to scream
I have to exist
within my dreams.
Don’t pretend to
understand.

I feel so close to this poem, Hully. I love the flow and structure. Everything was smooth to read. Exceptional piece.
You should be made to feel this way, Hull!
'SHOULDN'T!'
Emotional poem, Ms. Hullabaloo.
You have to walk a mile in someone's shoes before you truly understand. 'Twas ever thus!
This was dedicated to all the 'professionals' out there, and society in general, who seems to think they know so much, but really have no clue of the reality.
This is still a bit raw, was very personal, so thanks for reading and taking the time to comment.
Powerful and sorrowful words. I can feel the frustration, the loneliness, and being fed up with it all. "I have to exist within my dreams" - I can relate to that. We all need something to hold onto in this world, when life becomes too difficult or dull or chaotic, and dreams are a precious something to hold dear. They're a powerful motivator, as well as a healing fantasy, a lasting innocence, a personal escape; for some of us, they're our religion or our home away from home.
A heavy poem. Everyone needs to scream every once in a while; vent their anger and frustration. This is a good way of doing it.
