Something written out of spite. Rather rushed. Intentionally delayed.

Wrap This

Chestnuts roasting by the open fire,

Crackers laughing, debutante for hire.

Eight feet tall, but twenty under,

Soon to get lost in the splendor,

Stashing away that new blender,

Cards that have no sender,

Uncle was never a big spender,

Parents under cover getting tender,

Tree by the year gets more slender,

That pine might as well be a vendor,

Did everyone lose what they came for?

The most wonderful time of the year,

Kids want more, now there’s tears.

Dinner is the same as always,

Turkey and ham with a bit of glaze,

Adults in the hallways graze,

Children stop in windows to gaze,

Countdown the calendar days,

Navigate the shopping maze,

Pop asking for one more raise,

Everyone wants to be amazed,

Everyone is in the holiday craze,

Watch that Christmas tree blaze,

Heat of the rays,

How do you put this into one phrase?
