Oddity.

Whoever built this wall must have had some sense of humor. Or maybe a total lack of compassion. For look at me, an oddity. Standing out so blatantly. A focus for too much unwanted attention; that is what I am.

Mostly, I’m greeted with confusion -- ‘What’s that doing there?’ sort of thing. All I can say is it was none of my doing. I want to blend in, not stand out as different from everything around me. I wish....yes, I wish I was invisible.

From the little girl that came up and poked me with her finger; ‘That’s pretty! What’s it doing there, Mommy?’, to the youth who smeared me with something disgusting, I stand out, draw attention. And this interest is wholly unwanted.

So I’m making a plea to the builder that put me here. Please show some pity and remove me. Either place me with others of my own kind, or it they don’t exist, leave me somewhere dark and dusty; let me stay ignored. Your wall will look a whole let better without me.

I’m not made to be stared at. The cracks are already beginning to show. Let me blend in, or let me go.
