Twas the week after Christmas, the bed called me to lie,

But I tried to get moving to burn off the pie.

The cookies were thrown in the freezer for saving

For a time when I have to give in to the craving.

I tug on my tights, and pull on my hat,

In the woods I will run, to get rid of the fat.

The candy is gone, the treats have been eaten,

It is time to make goals, and a plan to achieve them.

On water, on erg, in the gym, on the treadmill,

I row, I will run, I will give it my all.

I have plans for the year, with my coach and my team,

Summer races are much closer than they seem.

As we enter mid-winter, and the days start to lengthen

My technique will improve, my muscles will strengthen.

Facing challenges head on, putting fears in the past,

By eating right, working hard, I can only get fast.

My wish for you is a dream you can seek

That will pull you and push you out of comfort, past weak.

By striving for greatness, we can discover ourselves.

Happy New Year to all, and may you all meet your goals.
