Simmer Your Spirit

Say you wanted to get away,

To 100 places,

But nowhere in particular.

Step on untempered soil,

Pluck petals from a virgin field.

Roll along a limitless stretch,

Or lie back, make that sky one within.

In truth... to belong to it, but not be it.

Well that nuance grows every day,

And somewhere,

Breath whispers over a tombstone.

So rise,

Spirit of a penny novel town.

Ruffle those wings,

You beautiful bird.

Cooling aches

In a place too far from it,

But still home.

Like the bubble you finally broke free from.

A feeling granted only once,

To that special someone.

And when you’ve gone full circle,

You don’t need to look back anymore.

The story doesn’t end,

It merely repeats.

So when it’s done,

The past is just that.

As it was once said,

Be yourself,

Like everyone else.
