Fake a Smile

Societies knifes cut open your mouth.

“smile for us.”

So, you do.

Every day is another smile.

Every day is more work.

White teeth blinding their eyes.

“Look how good I am,” you say.

“Don’t you see how hard I try for you?”

Strain on your soul equals no worries for others.

Smile split ear to ear.

Cuts so deep it surpasses falsehood.

“you need to smile more.”

Beautiful golden knife in hand.

“is this not enough?”
