A cub that's heading home.

As the cub lay there the wind picks up. The poor little guy shivered in his pain-induced sleep as the trees rustle. Hope for the cub was long gone. He had been there for days and the cold has been there every one of those days. Winter came early and so did the cub. The mother wasn't prepared and went to search for food but alas she was caught by frighted campers and was murdered. Shivers was one of the only things the poor animal could do as winds traveled through the cave. The cub would sleep and remember the good days of cuddling with its mother.

He could still remember how his fur drifted through hers as she shifted to and fro. The slight scrape of her nails and the snores that would escape her mouth as she slept. Little things kept the cub to this world but that doesn't hold for long. The memory fades as the animal tries to visualize it. Breath weakens while the cub searches for warmth where there is none.

His breath dies and so does his heart. The cold is what gotten to him. Death of heartbreak by never seeing the one thing he loved. He never really met the world. The cub was only able to take a quick glance at what was out there. He drifted away with only one thought on his mind... That he would be able to see his mother.
