A Crowd of Lilies
Floating lilies ponder under white clouds,
Oh sweet denizens of Spring, thou are so pure,
Upon fanfare, bequeath these nestling crowds,
And pregnant wind, gentle and demure,
Soothe the morning mood to a whispering,
A quiet rippling of water, of sound.
Past genial tunes of songbirds bickering,
In aged cages rooted firmly by ground,
Through the honey web of cool leaves, chuckling,
The sleuthing sunlight rays search, for you,
With me, seated upon the bark, whistling
About the day, the heavy morning dew,
Time is lost, leaving only eyes to find
You and I watching lilies in the wind.
