When winter grows harsh

It came upon a midnight dear Twelve days and more after Christmas Silvery snowy fingers floating in the air Glazing each frosted window with wavy silvery strings Each filled with the moon’s luminescent grace There among the windows Lies a shadowed room Bare-floored cheesy-holed walls Murky shadows that rise and fall Under the beam of the moon’s luminescent grace There lay a girl who is reminiscent of the moonlight With two chicks as yellow as gold Each fitted sleepily into her pockets Trying to stay together without fussing “Crack”, says one of the window panes “Would you like the dragon’s breath to come in? And get lifted by the phoenix’s wings?” “Hush”, says the little girl “I am trying to hear the long-awaited lullaby.” “And when I hear it, I shall sing”, continues the little girl “Arise and dance in the ever-swirling breeze.” Moments after the little girl summons her thoughts A never been heard lullaby hails from the land of nods Exhausted from the winds that bellow against its pane The window pane and its glass screams and lands on its face Dashing in the silvery fingers take delight In carrying the little girl and her chicks with its might Beyond beyond and begone Leaving no twinkle Leaving no trace Faraway the long-awaited lullaby plays
