Some walls, a roof and a floor you can take,
Add some windows for a view to the lake,
Now some colour for beauty’s sake,
Slap them together and a house you can make.
Add a bed and a table or two,
Living alone, it’s a mirrored zoo,
Add now some people within,
Without emotion it’s just a cold inn.

A dash of laughter, a pinch of tears,
Add some flavour over the years.
Without judgement but with understanding,
with no desire to be the last man standing,
Helping each other land on their feet,
Through love ’n loss, triumph and defeat.
Staying together no matter what may loom,
Whether freezing winters or spring’s coloured bloom,
Caring for each other through life’s run,
Under stormy skies, or a burning sun,
It’s hard, but that’s what it will take,
From a house a home to make.
