Listen closely; can you hear?

On my chest place your ear.

Can you hear it deep inside?

The heart you cradled has just died.

Was this your deed; was this the plan?

To make-believe you’re a good man?

Bravo! You’ve done it well,

You captured me under a spell.

Are you ignoring what truly matters?

Hear my glass heart and how it shatters.

You walk away with sudden haste,

I pick up pieces I cannot paste.

And you look up and simply say,

A phrase played out and too cliché.

“It is not you; it is me”,

“I break your heart reluctantly”.

You’re such a fool so walk away,

Your true intentions you can’t downplay.
