The couple will do anything and everything to stay together for as long as they can. The love they share for one an other is unbreakable. Till the end of time.

Love is such an odd word. All People have their own definition for it. As for myself, I still await the meaning of what that word is to me. Today is the 12th of February 2018, only two days till Valentine’s Day. I’ve always wondered how the day had come to appear.  But for now that’s the least of my worries. As night rises and the day falls, just a few minutes ago I overheard my parents talking in the kitchen about my boyfriend and me. They want to press charges against him for child abuse. But never once, has he touched me in over 2 years. Now I’m 17 years old and my boyfriend is 19. My family hates him so much that they want him dead. Let’s get something straight here! I always obey my parents and what they ask of me. But this time, they’re not going to get what they want. This is my life, my happiness! So I have the right to choose what I want to do! I call my boyfriend to warn him about what my parents want to do.

Me: “Hey Kalob, we have a problem. Well, to be honest you have a big problem.”

Kalob: “What did you do?”

Me: “Nothing, my parents are planning to press charges against you.”

Kalob: “Oh?! But… why, what did I do?”

Me: “They think you don’t respect me, that you’re only with me because I’m young, helpless and you can take advantage of that. I think its best if we don’t see each other anymore. I care about your well being.”

Kalob: “Karma, no.”

Me: “Its ok I’m already broken. You leaving me won’t make it worse. If you can be happy with someone else that won’t put you in danger with the law. I’ll… I’ll support you, no matter what.”

Kalob: “Stop!”

Me: “What do you want me to say? What do you want me to do?!”

Kalob: “The opposite of what you’ve been saying. What I want the most in this world right now, is you. Protecting you, loving you, caring about you and making you happy and lots more.”

Me: “But I don’t want to see you behind bars.”

Kalob: “I’m not going to lose you, this I promise you.”

Me: “alright I trust you. So, what now?”

Kalob: “I have an idea.”

After hearing what Kalob’s plan was, I never knew he would go to such lengths just so he can keep me in his life. Also, that was the first time he ever told me he loved me. Hearing that, was incomprehensible to me. My mind was happy that he loved me. But at the same time, dread filled my heart for fear of losing the only person that I truly care about. We talked about many things. Mostly what we’ve been doing or what’s new in our lives in the last 2 years. I found out that for the last year my boyfriend is a soldier, for the military. That’s every girl’s dream, to have their own hero. Also he was in Iraq for 2 months, fighting for his life. He refuses to tell me anything of what happened there, but I have a feeling that whatever happened he doesn’t want to share. All he told me was, he made lots of friends and when the war turned, so did they. I’m worried that later in life they might come for him one day. That someone or some people might try to kill him. But for now what matters to me the most is that we are together, and safe. The plan is that tomorrow I sneak out my bedroom window early in the morning around two a.m. we take a taxi to the airport, and then we take a plain to the Yukon and live out in the woods in his grandfather’s old hunting cabin. Where no one can judge us, we’d be away from everything our jobs, friends, family and more importantly the law. Kalob’s safety is all that matters to me and his well being. This isn’t the best way to live I can agree to that, but I get to be with the best man in the world. To me he’s my everything. I love everything about him. I never told him I love him yet, but I want to do it in person. The only time I ever saw him other than the day we met was our first and last date to this day. I miss the way he would put his arm over my shoulders. Him grabbing my hand holding it so tightly like his life depended on it. His lips, the doors of breath could never compare to another. His eyes, I would love nothing more than to be stranded in them forever like the ocean. A never ending site of blue, calm and peaceful. His beating heart is a melody to witch I want to hear over and over again. Within a few hours we will runaway together like a fairy tale to which I hope will have a happily ever after.

Its 2:31 a.m. and I’ve been waiting all night for my knight in shining armor. In my mind instantly I’m excited. I’m going to see my boyfriend again after 2 years. It was hard enough for me not to jump around in excitement. A few minutes later I see a car come by, it was a taxi. It stop in my drive way and the back door opened and I saw Kalob. I opened my window and threw my bag down to him. Looking up at me with a whispering voice he asked.

Kalob: “You sure you can get down?”

Me: “Yea, this… This is nothing.”

I climbed out of my room and onto the roof of my house looking down I had just noticed, it was a long way down about 10 to 12 feet high. Plus I’m not so good with heights, I was trying not to have an anxiety attack and fall off. So I walked slowly to the edge of the roof.

Me: “You’ll catch me won’t you?”

Kalob: “Of course.”

With that insurance I started to count down from three, so Kalob would know when to catch me. That’s what I tried to make it look like anyway. By the time I had said two, one of the shingles of the roof slipped off from under my right foot. As I fell my head hit the edge of the roof. Luckily Kalob caught me as he fell on his back and I landed face first into his chest with his arms rapped around me. When we hit the ground I lifted my head to see if he was alright.

Kalob: “You ok?”

Me: “A bit of a bumpy ride don’t you think.”

We both laughed a little. He pulled me close and he kissed me with his eyes closed. I also closed my eyes, as I brushed my left hand through his hair. He put his hands on my back, as he started bighting my lips, we both hade shortness of breath. My mind was a field of emptiness, and my heart was on my sleeve for that moment.

Minutes later our beautiful moment affection came to a close, by the horn of the taxi car. We both come to a stand I grab my bag and we rush to the car. During the drive to the airport I sat next to Kalob and he let me sleep on his shoulder on the way there. When we arrived to the airport Kalob woke me up and we grabbed our bags at the back of the taxi. We walk into the airport and their weren’t too many people. We got our tickets, went through security and waited at the doors of the plain. All in all it took about four long and exhausting hours. But for a weird reason for about the last hour I felt like we were being watched, more liked followed. Kalob said I was just tired and making stuff up, but I trusted him so I believed him. We get on the plain and it’s just about in between three to four o’clock in the afternoon. When we leave the airport we get into another taxi and drove up all the way to the middle of nowhere. All there was a dirt road for the cars and a small dirt trail for hikers.

Me: “Ah, Kalob?”

Kalob: “Yes, dear?”

Me: “You sure you know where we’re going.”

Kalob: “Absolutely not!” He said sarcastically.

We both laughed. I grabbed his left hand as we started walk. About an hour and a half later there was a little cabin just off the trail we were deep in the woods tall trees made a shelter with their green leafs. We stop just in front of the porch and Kalob picks me up.

Kalob: “Welcome home.”

Today is the 13th of February and we just settled into a small cabin in the woods in the Yukon to get away from everything and everyone who didn’t accept Kalob and me as lovers. After unpacking our things and having fried fish for dinner that we caught at the pond close by. Soon after that we got changes into out pajamas we just laid in bed together. I was on top of him and he was playing with my hair.

Kalob: “How you liking the woods so far dear?”

Me: “It’s great. After all, you’re the sole reason why it is amazing. But may I ask, when are you going to stop calling me dear?” I say sarcastically

Kalob: “Fine, I’ll stop.” He smiles “Anything for you, kiddo.” He laughs

Me: “I give up.” I laugh as well.

Kalob: “Hey, do you mind taking a walk with me? I want to show you something.”

Me: “Sure, but can I know where we’re going in the middles of the night in the woods?”

Kalob: “I’ll give you a hint by the time we get there it’ll be Valentine’s Day.”

We get up get our coats and walk all the way to the other side of the pond. Where there was a waterfall, water lilies, with glowing moon shined very brightly lighting up the forest. A blanket was laid down on the ground, with a bucket of ice with a bottle of  half-drunk tequila and two champagne glasses. We both sat down and looked at the view. With only seven minutes to go till mind night, till February 14th, till Valentine’s Day.

Kalob: “Karma, do you know why it’s called Valentine’s Day?”

Me: “No, not really.”

Kalob: “Well the story goes like this, St. Valentine was a priest from Rome in the third century AD. Emperor Claudius II had banned marriage because he thought married men were bad soldiers. Valentine thought this was unfair, so he broke the rules and arranged marriages in secret. When Claudius found out, Valentine was sentenced to death and thrown in jail. There, he fell in love with the jailor’s blind daughter. His love and belief in God cured her blindness, and when he was taken to be killed on 14 February he sent her a love letter signed “From your Valentine”.”

Me: “Wow, that amazing.”

Kalob: “Karma today is the day a man died for love. He shared that love with the people who wanted and needed it. As for myself I will live and die for you.” He gets down on one knee and takes a small black box out of his boot, and opens it. In it is a silver ring with a small clear cut diamond. “Now I ask of you, become my Valentine today tomorrow and till the end of time. Karma, please will you marry me?”

Me: “Yes!” I through myself in his arms. He takes the ring and puts it on my ring finger. “So, can we finish that bottle of tequila now?”

Kalob: “Yeah we can, dear.” He pores the tequila in both glasses. “A toast, to my beautiful bride to be.”

Me: “Kalob, thank you for letting me share your life. I love you.” I take a drink then out of know where I get light headed and fall on my side. Everything becomes blurry and dark. Kalob taste the tequila and spits it out.

Kalob: “Dawn it!!” He grabs me and holds me close and he keeps yelling at me with tears falling from he’s cheeks and onto my face. “Karma!! Stay with me… Please.” He sobs as my eyes cry out blood.

Me: “Kalob… I…” caught up some blood.

Kalob: “Don’t talk just keep breathing, ok.” He stands up holding me in his arms as we’re both covered in blood.

Me: “No… let’s stay here… its beautiful.” Kalob sits back down with me still in his arms. As more tears and sadness fills his face I take my right hand and brush his tears away. “Please… don’t cry… let me see that smile I love?” I could tell doing that was very hard for him to smile at a time like this but he managed.

Kalob: “Please, don’t leave me. I just got you back. I’m begging you”

Me: “Don’t worry… I’m not leaving you.” I caught up more blood.  “I’ll always be with you… even if… you can’t see me… I love you”

Kalob: “I love you karma, so much.” He squeezes my hand really tightly. Then my heart stopped. I was over Kalob and my body just watching. I think I became a spirit, too keep watch of him and to keep him safe. He closed my body’s eyes, and he screamed so loudly there was an echo in the forest. Finally after a long while the sun was starting to rise. But it didn’t shed any light on his broken soul. When he finally stood up, his clothes stained with my blood.

I couldn’t say a word to him, and that alone killed me. Soon a shadow appeared from the trees not far from him.

Kalob: “I know your there. And may god have mercy on your soul, because I won’t!” The man walks up to him. “Don’t you have what you want Kyle.”

Kyle: “Now, now that’s not polite to say to your old military friend.”

Kalob: “If anything you’re an old enemy.” He reaches in his side pocket for his rapier, and gripes it tight.

Kyle: “Well, congratulations for the engagement. I hoped you loved my present.” He laughs with a murderous look on his face. Kalob screams and runs into Kyle and slashes his left arms.

Kalob: “You’ve always been the one with the hiding skills. But you’ve never been much of a fighter.” He holds Kyle down, as he struggles to get back to his feet. Kalob opens Kyle’s mouth and cuts out his tongue. “This is for never being able to hear her say I love you to me again.” Kyle screams in pain and agony downing in a mouth full off blond. Then he cuts off his right hand. “This is for never being able to hold her hand again.”  Blood is spilling everywhere and still, the screams continue. Next Kalob takes Kyle’s left hand and cuts off his ring finger. “This is for never having the chance to make her my wife.” After, he cuts out both of Kyle’s eyes. With the blood dripping and spilling everywhere poodles of blood start to form on the ground. “This is for never being able to see her beauty ever again. Now lastly…” Kalob points the rapier to Kyle’s chest where is heart is. “This is for never being loved by her again.” Then he stabs Kyle’s heart, ending his life and the screams in the woods. Kalob walks back to my body and holds me with the other glass of tequila in his hand. “Don’t worry my dear, I’m coming.” He chugs the drink and fall on his back with a shortness of breath. Minutes later his heart stops, with my body in his arms. Many years go by and over time that forest had come to be known as the woods of the dead love. For legends says, if you die there with your love you’ll be together forever. Till the end of time.
