Dear Momma,

It’s cold today. My heart still breaks every time I think of you. It’s been eleven years since you left. It’s been eleven years when you left me alone.

You never got to see the man I’d turn out to be or the friends and choices I made.  It’s days like today when I feel like you would feel so much shame to see who I’ve become.  I grew up hard and that path got harder when you died.

I’m sorry momma. I’m sorry I never made you proud. I’m sorry you had to go. And I’m sorry for what I have done. The addictions, the harm, the boisterous love I use just to hide the fact I’m a broken man.

I miss you momma. I didn’t learn enough. I didn’t listen enough. I fell from grace.

I love you momma. I just wish I would’ve made us proud.
