Radio Morphine

There's morphine on the radio

The curtain lace breathes so slow,

Paradise is so, so,

A death wish

A kiss that peels the lips.

The faces learn to decay

Each in their own special way,

Poetic sex to fray

On threadbare rugs,

And the politics of drugs.

Holding midnight's broken hands

You half stand,

Waiting for the ice man,

And all the ladies go by,

Bye, bye, they sigh.

With needle gods in the winter rain

To help you solve the cold and pain,

But it's really all the same,

Some keep sane,

Some die inside the picture frames.

And all the dreams that you scream

Haunted by childhood scenes,

All the stars that nearly gleam

Wait in the electric light,

Wake paralysed in the night.

Come down fast

The cramps won't last,

When your withdrawel symptons have passed,

There's static on the radio,

Paradise is so, so.
