He spotted the bouquet of flowers as he was walking in. She was nowhere to be seen. He felt something building inside him. Was it anger or was it sheer jealousy? There she was, walking towards him with her beautiful smile, so beautiful she was, that he sometimes felt he didn’t deserve her. Well technically she wasn’t his yet.
'Hi boss, coffee for you?,' she asked as she always did.
'Nice flowers,' he said.
She looked a little surprised and then she blushed. How delicious she looked. But wait, did she have another man, a boyfriend maybe? Well, he would have known. She spent most of her evenings with him, simply because he needed her in the name of over time work. She never said no. She obliged happily, in fact. Always happy to be of help to him, that’s the way she put it.
'Oh that, a secret admirer it says...,' she said softly.
His heart raced, not knowing how to digest her words. He needed to act, act fast. He turned towards his room and walked while mumbling he had an urgent call to make. In the next hour, he indeed made very urgent calls to make his emergency plan work. He texted her saying there was a sudden dinner meeting at the Shangri La and he needed her there, as he always did. She replied immediately, asking if he needed her to make any arrangement. He replied with a simple no. No questions asked thereafter.
He was awaiting her at the lobby, hoping to make an impression with his brand new black tuxedo matched with deep blue tie. He looked at his watch, and looked at the entrance again. There she was, looking every inch an angel who ascended from heaven itself. Her little black dress was perfected with a string of pearls, matching stilettos and luscious red lips. She had no idea of the effect she had on him. He walked ahead of her and opened the door to the restaurant. The chief waiter showed them to a special table, decorated the way he had dictated during the earlier part of the day. Flower petals, translucent wine glasses, shining cutlery, all perfectly placed on a red velvet table.
She looked confused when he motioned her to take the seat facing him. Why wouldn’t she be, there were only two chairs. He took his seat, feeling his heart pound harder. Well, he had to do something about this, didn’t he? Not unless he was prepared to let another man grab this precious woman.
'Boss, are the clients coming?,' she asked softly.
He signaled the hotel's staff and a smart young man appeared with a bouquet of 100 red roses. He stood up to receive the bouquet before passing it to her with a grin. She blushed and smiled but her eyes teared up. She seemed to be caught off guard. He didn't quite understand her mixed reaction.
'Mia, I don’t know how to do this but I know if don’t, I might regret it. I like you, more than you can ever imagine and when I saw the bouquet on your table this morning, I freaked out!', said Adam.
'Boss ...errr...Adam, I didn’t see this coming. I....I don’t know what to say,' she said with tears in her eyes.
'Mia, I know this is all too sudden for you. But you've always been special to me. It is just that I never had the guts to tell you. I...errr....God I wish this was easier,' he admitted.
'Adam, you're an amazing man, every woman’s dream, in fact. Never in my wildest dreams did I think you'd fall for me, a simple woman who is nowhere near you, Adam. I really don’t know if I deserve this,' said Mia.
Adam had to convince her that she was every inch a worthy woman.
'I love you, Mia. I always have and always will. I respect your decision, no matter what it shall be,' said Adam earnestly, hoping she'd be his for life.

Mia remained silent, not knowing how to respond to Adam's sudden confession. It was so unlike him to open up like that. That too, in such a dramatic, unexpected way. Having worked for him for the past 3 years, she has, many a time seen and heard more than she should have. He came from an undoubtedly rich but terribly broken family. The scandals within his family were open secrets. A womanizing father who had his share of mistresses ranging from celebs to office clerks. One diva-like money crazed mother who would only bother to call whenever she needed something from Adam. And there was his very wild beauty queen sister who basically paraded her crazy lifestyle on social media. These were not the best ingredients for perfect family. It made him such a bitter, angry man.
She knew he was not always someone she could openly speak with. He had so much of frustration pent up within. Thankfully, he channeled every inch of his energy, every single day, to bring High, his ad agency to a whole new level. His creative work often led brands to all new levels, winning him not only bigger clients but also international accolades. The man knew his game. His work was phenomenal.
Personally, Adam was as complicated as one could get. His tantrums and mood swings were unbearable by many of the staff but they stayed with the agency anyway. Adam was truly an arrogant fool who'd never accept excuses no matter how valid they were. The pantry was where everyone vented and shared their versions of Angry Adam stories. Sometimes, he would act as if he didn’t have a heart at all.
But, Adam did have a heart. He'd help anyone in need and many staff are indebted to him for the same reason. Weirdly enough, he didn’t want others to know about his noble deeds. He maintained an unfriendly demeanor with almost everyone. How did she bear him? She didn’t really have a choice. She needed the money and the outlet to stay away from home.
Unknown to Adam, she had her very own twisted life story. She had grown in an equally or perhaps worst type of broken family. Her biological father had left in the name of securing a better income but never came back. Her mother, who got tired of waiting, found herself a decent widower who supported them since Mia was 8 years old. The biggest problem with her step father, Al was his uncontrollable temper. So much was his anger that purposely pick an argument which ended up in him hitting her mother and breaking things up when something happened against his liking. There wasn’t much of furniture or ornament left in their home anymore. There was definitely no point in replacing them. He expected Mia to work and support them, failing which she'd be subjected to the same violent treatment. More than once did he try to force himself on her which is why she has always kept herself locked up when she gets home. Her mother never said a word or even if she did, it ended up in being an accusation of how Mia was ungrateful to such a great man who had just some extra dose of anger like all other men did. He had the right, she claimed so often. Mia hated going home. She was thankful and readily accepted overtime work, even if it meant working over the weekends.
She didn’t have an answer for Adam because she didn’t know if it could even work if they got together. It may very well become a total disaster.

'Mia?, are you alright?' asked Adam. Something was surely wrong with Mia. She went blank, to a totally unknown space. He let her be in her bubble for a bit but patience was never one of his virtues. She looked straight at him, looking baffled or was it uncertainty that danced on her face.
'Adam, I'm ok. Just need some air. I'll be right back,' she said before dashing off to the ladies.
Adam felt uneasy about this whole ad-hoc date. Perhaps it was not the best idea after all. Maybe she did have another man. Or woman? Was she into other women? He'd never have guessed. Whatever it was, he needed to know. He deserved an answer, didn’t he?
Mia looked at herself. She looked beautiful. Her red lipstick set off perfectly against her porcelain complexion, one that she inherited from her long lost Chinese daddy. Her wild shoulder length curls lent her the perfect sexy touch. She was proportionate, the right curves in the right places they say. Well that was the after effects of her daily pilates and yoga.
She was a wreck underneath, torn in every way possible. She'd seen nothing but crap throughout her life. She was always on the edge, running and hiding from demons of the past and present. Adam's searching eyes came to her mind. It all seemed like a dream. Who would have thought that Adam would pick her from the array of women who wanted him so badly. She never harbored any such feeling for him but deep down inside he warmed her up with little acts of kindness. The occasional lunch treats, lovely perfume he handpicked from overseas trips and generous bonus, were to her, what every good boss would do for a loyal employee. But then again, he was extremely protective of her when his own father tried to get a piece of her. She witnessed a different side of him, a version of him who would destroy anyone who tried to mess with her. Why didn't it make any sense to her then? Blinded is what she had been.
She took one last look at herself, took one deep breath before walking out of the ladies with new hope.
Mia smiled at Adam who looked more crestfallen than ever. He tried to return her smile but his eyes told a different story. She inched closer and took her seat. Before he could say another word, she said 'Can we get out of here, Adam? We need to talk'.
Without a word, he settled the bill and walked her out to the entrance where his sexy red Ferrari was parked. She'd never traveled with him on this one. Adam never quite brought the car around since he got it last year to celebrate a big deal they'd secured.
She got in carefully, fearing the scratches her stilettos may cause to his shiny darling of a car. She felt weird being seated next to him. Somehow she was in the mood of surprises.
She said 'Adam, do you know any quiet places we could sit and talk?.
Without a word, he got the engine roaring and shot off. Ed Sheeran crooned away, Adams spicy perfume filled the air, making her feel so calm in yet a very new, uncharted zone. Adam looked different, perhaps this was how he looked when calmness set in. She liked what she saw, a man so rough on the outside, yet so mellow on the inside.
What was she doing? She didn’t quite know, but deep down inside she was sure whatever she said and did tonight would change their lives forever.

Mia couldn't help but admire Adam. He wasn’t the typical tall, dark and handsome guy most women went after. In fact, he was a couple of inches taller than her own 5 ft 4 height. She thought it was just the right height for a man, neither too tall nor too short. For a man in his 30s, Adam had too much of grey hair but somehow the salt and pepper look made him more desirable to many, including herself. She realizes how many times she was caught staring at him by her nosy office mate Jaymee. Well Jaymee was the most beautiful shemale one could lay eyes on. Even Jaymee craved for Adam. Or more precisely, for his hot body. The man worked his ass off at the gym. The angrier he was, the more he worked out. It was his outlet to vent out. He even had a gym erected at his penthouse. Mia was once called over with a set of files. It was then that she saw him working out with raging eyes. She stood watching till he stopped working out.
'Mia....we've arrived,' said Adam softly.
Mia peeked and saw the whole city below them. It was a beautiful view. He got out and motioned her to do the same. She walked unsteadily, almost missing a step. In an instant, he was by her side, catching hold off her before she could fall. Her cheeks grew warm. He let go slowly and moved ahead to a bench. He took a deep breath and sat down. He tapped the spot next to him, motioning her to sit. She sat down, a little closer than intended. She shifted a little to make herself more comfortable.
'Adam...I don’t know how or where to start. I don’t want to make things serious. Can we just get to know each other, now, here?' she asked.
He smiled and said 'What do you wanna know, honey?.
Mia blushed. 'Just tell me something I dont know about?' she said.
'Well, let me see. I love animals and I own a black stallion. I love gazing at the stars. I love home-cooked meals which I hardly get to eat. I hate liars because I don’t lie. And oh, I absolutely love sleeping on the couch,' said Adam without a pause.
Mia was surprised. She really did not know he had such liking. Hmmm, it was her turn now, where would she start? What could she say?
Eventually, she told him what he deserved to know, the absolute truth. He remained silent, long after she had finished talking.
When he did speak up, he said 'Mia, here I was thinking my life was utter crap but your life is..my god...you've endured so much. Yet, you've pulled through it all'.
He paused a little and sudden put his arms around her. She wanted so much to resist but eventually she let in. She let him hold her close, soaking in all her sorrows as she wept openly in his arms.
'Mia, I love you baby, with all my heart. Give this...us, a chance darling. Please...,'
'Let's do it then, Adam,' she said in a whisper.
He looked at her in total awe before pulling her closer, and held onto her as if he'd never let go. She crossed her fingers and hugged him closer.

Mia walked into the office, feeling like a whole new woman, a woman in love. She took her seat and slowly peered at Adam's glass office. He seemed to be on a call and the look on his face was worrying. All of a sudden he laid eyes on her, a beautiful smile replaced the scowl. How handsome he was in his navy blue shirt. His wavy hair was in a state of beautiful disarray and for some reason, it gave him an aura like no other. The Hugh-Grant effect, she called it.
He suddenly motioned her to come in. She walked towards him, knowing well he was scanning every inch of her with his deep set eyes. She felt terribly embarrassed, not knowing if her walk was looking weird or her hair looked messed up.
'Hi, babe..you're looking extra gorgeous today. What's the secret?,' he said with a cheeky smile, making her feel special again.
She smiled and put some documents on the desk. 'What do you need, boss?,' she asked, trying to maintain her cool.
'You,' he said, staring straight into her hazelnut eyes.
'Adam!, stop that, will you,' she said, trying not to smile.
'Okay baby, would you come with me for lunch?,' he asked genuinely.
'Well...I’d love to. Where to?,' asked Mia curiously.
'That's for me to know, for you to find out!,' he joked.
They left, walking out as they usually do, boss and secretary. He took her to an Italian restaurant which served fantastic pasta, her very own favorite. He spoke with her at ease. Made her feel that she belonged.
Right after, Adam surprised her by bringing her to a movie. He said he never went to a movie in the longest time. But he felt like it today, because he wanted time out with her. Held her hand and stroked her hair. He was a different man when with her. She prayed he'd remain the same for the rest time to come. She hoped he'd not be a replica of Jack. She truly didn’t want history to repeat itself. Jack was her first love, the one love that touched and hurt her the most.

It was way past midnight when Adam walked into his duplex condo. He was exhausted yet happy. Happier than he has ever been. He felt emotions he never knew existed when he was with Mia. She was not just the average eye candy type of girl. The more time he spent with her, the more he realized that he hardly knew his sexy secretary. She had a great personality, to start with. Her confidence and sense of self assurance astounded him. Her knowledge about everything made him wonder if he had put her in the wrong position at High. She seemed too smart for a secretary. Her viewpoints were strong and well justified. He was surprised to discover that she was finishing her postgraduate business degree. Little did he know that she designed and stitched beautiful clothes to sell them online. He was amazed with her vast talent. Above it all, he was touched by the way she exuded kindness to those around her. He was a lucky man.
His phone beeped. He expected to see her name but it was Arman instead. He took a while to read and reread the message. He nervously clicked the whatsapp image. It was Mia but she was not alone. A tall young man was standing practically stuck to her. Mia looked so happy. He'd never seen that look on her before. Not even when she was with him. Arman's message read "Hey Bro, been a while. Heard you're hooked up with Mia. Get her checked bro! I've seen this gal with Jack, my gym buddy. Just don’t wanna see you become a wreck like before, man. Let's catch up for a drink soon. Cheers man!"
He didn’t know how to digest this shocking piece of news. Arman was a great friend who's always watched his back. He wouldn't possibly mean harm. But Mia...she was different. Unlike any other woman he's known. It was very late but he had to know. He dialed her number and waited to hear her voice on the other side.
'Adam, is everything ok?' her voice cracked sleepily.
'Yeah babe, just needed to clear something. Who's this dude Jack?' he said, wanting to get it out of his mind right away.
'Jack? Adam, can we talk about this tomorrow, please,' pleaded Mia.
Adam felt his rage building up. If he wanted to speak tomorrow, why in the world would he be calling at that hour?
'Adam...you need to know now?' she asked softly.
'No Mia, go back to sleep!,' he said and hung up.
Mia couldn't sleep anymore. She hoped for the sun to rise soon. She needed to see Adam and talk. She needed to make him understand why she didn’t tell him about Jack...

It was an extra beautiful day. The view of ocean ahead was to die for, especially from this beautiful yacht of his. The ocean was not the only thing that calmed Jack, it was also the fact that Adam had begun doubting Mia, just the way he had planned it to be. How easy it was to manipulate the feelings of others, especially when one knew their weaknesses. Adam was in this case, a very open book. People in his closest circle knew everything about him because he trusted them with his life. Little did he know, the very same people would do whatever it takes in exchange for the luxuries Jack could throw at any given time. His yacht business was flourishing, especially among the expats who wanted a taste of luxury on the Malaysian waters. The cherry on the cake was his wide array of sexy young women who were willing to bend as he wished. No matter how great a man was, his weakness lay in one place. Jack’s girls knew well the buttons to push to get men on their knees. The after effect was a much richer young man.
Not all was bad about Jack in fact. On a social front, he was well-respected for his philanthropic work. He supported many good causes, putting him in the right kind of limelight. Many women wanted to work with him, some for his money, others for a piece of him. He was far from average where looks were concerned. A girlfriend once described him as the Greek God of Asia. He had great height, at about 6ft. He kept his figure trim, through his greatest indulgence, diving. His straight hair, inherited from his beautiful mother of Japanese descent, was fashioned inline with the trending Pompadour cut. Every time he raked through his hair, girls went crazy inside. To add it up, he grew a neat beard which only accentuated his sharp features. He looked naughty and dangerous at the same time, a trait which he was told turned women on.
From afar, he saw a girl swaying her way towards him. Her curly mass of hair reminded him of Mia. Mia, the one woman he could never get enough of. The one woman who knew him inside out. The very woman who made him weak in knees and who made his heart pound when she danced freely on this very yacht. She danced like a goddess in trance, swaying gracefully, intoxicating the minds of those around her. Men and women alike, forgot themselves the moment Mia went on stage. Like him, they too, could never have enough of her. She was perfect in every sense, perfect for him. But it turned out, he wasn’t good enough for her. She made him fall deeply into the pit of love and left him there to rot. There is no way he would let her move on. The only option she had was to come back to him on her own.
He still remembers the first time he saw her. She had turned 16 and Al had invited his sister, Jack’s mum to her party. Al had intentionally invited them over because he knew Jack was back from abroad and he wanted Jack to meet Mia. Meet Mia he did and mesmerized he was. She piled her wild curls into an updo, which made her look more mature than her age. She wore a cheap purple dress which looked pretty on her. She smiled and talked to everyone freely. When she arrived to where he was, Al quickly made the introductions.
‘Pleasure meeting you, sweets. I must say, you’re the prettiest birthday girl,’ said Jack, attempting to wow her.
‘Hello Jack, thanks for the compliment. I really am not all that. Anyway, have you eaten?,’ she asked
‘Actually, I didn’t really get a chance to eat just yet,’ he admitted.
She persuaded him to have something, at least to honor her as the birthday girl. He agreed with condition that she ate with him. They sat, ate and talked for hours till the restaurant was about to close. Jack left with a heavy heart. Mia said goodbye with the sweetest smile. They were both, smitten...

Late into the evening, Mia sat staring through her office window. Adam was treating her as if she didn't exist. Why the hell did men do that? They go out of their ways to woo a woman and flip into another egoistic version the moment a tiny issue crops up. So much for everlasting love! There more she thought of it, the angrier she got. This was all triggered by one self-loving bastard who thinks he can bring the whole world down to his feet. Jack had promised to let go peacefully but she knew he'd keep intervening in her life. This is what she feared most when Adam asked her. Tears ran down her cheeks when she saw Adam in her thoughts. He looked haggard lately and hardly had his meals on time. She was partially the reason..but she actually was not! He chose to make his stupid conclusions without giving her a chance to explain. Everyone has a past but that isn't a measure for the present. If only he would understand.
She looked around her desk and decided it was time to leave. Her gaze suddenly rested on a photo pinned to her cubicle wall. My Hot Chickas it read. The gang smiled at her and she smiled at them. Bang! It was time to get the chickas together ; Jen, Aisha, Myra and Amaya. They'd be more than willing to hatch yet another plan to help Mia. She was yet to break the news about getting together with Adam and now she had to add the part that followed, their 'no status' phase. The girl were always saving her since she made them her greatest gal pals. Why did it always have to be her? Well at least they got Jack to release her willingly. She typed and retyped, not knowing how to best tell them without being judged. But they'd give her a royal lecture anyway. She needed their comfort now.
She typed "Chickas, I'm in trouble. Adam said he loved me but now he doesnt anymore, thanks to that asshole Jack! Can we meet, please?" The next hour was filled with voice messages and nasty emojis from the girls. They were protective of Mia as she was the unlucky one among them all, a miserable girl from a broken family was the description she gave herself, much to the protest of the girls. The date and time was set. The girls were rolling their sleeves to get their hands dirty! #miadam #8ightEdit

Myra was dark skinned, darker than your average Indian girl. It earned her jabs and mocking throughout her early period of life. Everything changed when Lingesh captured her standing in a french waitress uniform against a red backdrop and posted it on Instagram. The next thing he knew, agents were contacting him for a shot of her. She was, a unique dusky beauty who had catlike grey eyes and a glorious crown of wavy hair. Her body was created to look like a perfect sculpture. Mia was a midget next to her, nevertheless she loved her.
As she walked in, Jen appeared out of nowhere. This one was the Chinese spice of the group. Despite being petite, she was the bravest of them all. Her straight hair was cropped short, styled up to exude a sense of dangerous sexiness. She was licensed pilot who decided the airlines was too tame for her and taught rich kids how to fly instead. When she didnt fly a plane, she was busy helping her man, Jerard who helped at-risk youth develop themselves through martial arts and yoga. Jen was raped by men who were supposed to protect her from the age of 6. Alcohol, drugs, free sex were some of the many outlets for the traumatic teenage Jen. The girls, including Mia met Jen at a club and saw the pain straight through her camouflaged roughness. Her turning point came when she was accepted to flying school. She stayed clean and turned herself into something truly phenomenal.
They were busy giving and receiving warm, tight hugs when Aisha joined them. The beautiful Aisha was the brain of their circle. She hailed from a small village by the beach in Terengganu, the east coast of Malaysia. As a daughter of a religious teacher, she portrayed the image of a successful Muslim woman was not held back by the headscarf she wore. Professionally, Aisha was an award winning scientist with a large research and development MNC. She was the one who aced every single exam and helped the girls with writing their otherwise unfinished assignments. She did all the thinking and planning for them back then. Aisha was married once. The one marriage experience with a psychotic husband left Aisha drained and lost. The girls stood by her and pushed her to leave her abusive ex. She pulled through with all the might she had left.
They were all seated after causing a mini hurricane of noise in the otherwise peaceful restaurant. The orders were placed. The girls sat looking pointedly at Mia. She was suddenly tongue tied. She didnt know how or where to start. So she relayed what had happened since Valentines Day. She ended her story with tears running down her reddened cheeks. Myra held her. The girls looked at each other. They needed a plan.
Aisha laid out the facts known for them. The ir task was simple - get Adam to open his eyes and see Mia for who she was. Myra suggested they made him jealous by making it look as if she had someone else indeed. Jen called it a stupid idea. Amaya remained silent and suddenly gave the most brilliant idea.

Mia walked into office the next morning, trying her best to act the part assigned to her - a depressed woman. She dragged her steps and settled at her desk with a sigh. Adam was already seated at in his office with a frown decorating his handsome face. She shuffled some papers and let it drop on purpose, scrambling to pick them up. Once she was done creating one mess, she proceeded to bump into Jaymee, causing her cup of coffee to drop and break. He looked up with a glare. She kept making mistakes in her tasks for Loretta, the other senior partner of the agency. The usually calm Loretta lost it and screamed at Mia. Mia was well aware that Adam was playing spectator to it all. According to Amaya, if she played this right, they could get hold of his attention again. She was pretty sure his attention was entirely on her.
Mia made a request to leave earlier, to which Loretta agreed with a huge sigh. She grabbed some things and put them into a small box, making sure she lingered long enough for him to see her lift it out. According to the plan, she was not supposed to return to the office for some time. The girls were messaging her non-stop on Whatsapp and clapped virtually when she reported her list of 'achievements' for the morning. Mia took a Grabcar to Aisha’s place where she’d be cooped up for the rest of the week. She had brought her belongings over the night before. Aisha’s duplex condo was the best hideout, a hidden spot just outside the city, surrounded with lush greenery. The change of setting was exactly what she needed most.
Mia hit the doorbell and when the door opened, she was surprised to see all the girls there, looking casual and comfortable.
‘What you girls doing here?’ she asked.
‘Well, we thought we’d do a little picnic, you know?’ said Jen who was comfortably lying on one of Aisha’s plush sofas.
‘Yeah babe, it’s been a while since we did this and it’s Friday anyway!’ screamed Myra in a sudden..
The girls gave Myra one weird look before smiling among themselves. Myra, for all her poise, had the weirdest attitude a girl could have. She became awkward at times, and the girls knew she did this when she was nervous. Why wouldn’t she be? She was going to meet Jack with a message from Mia. And the meeting would be taking place on Sunday. She was worried she’d fumble and if Jack would see through the plan. It was Lingesh who eventually convinced her that the plan would work only if she played her part. That too, for the sake of her bestie, Mia.
Aisha had taken the pain to cook them her infamous mutton biryani, a recipe she had inherited from her grandmother. The girls sat together on the floor, like their good ole days in the university. They held hands and in the own ways, thanked God for the good food and the beautiful friendship they had till this very day. They dug into the aromatic biryani and got lost in its delightful taste. Only Mia picked at her plate, lost in her own space. The girls noticed her change of mood and knowingly gave her the thinking space she needed. Aisha offered her a room to rest which she readily took. The girls knew this was a big deal for Mia. She had not allowed herself to fall in love again after the trauma Jack put her through. Throughout her life, all Mia had seen was pain. Adam, was perhaps her only happy streak. Even that was short lived.
Mia wanted to fall asleep but she couldn’t no matter how hard she tried. All she could think of was Adam. She clicked on her phone gallery and searched the selfie they’d taken after the movie. They looked good together, like one very happy couple. Adam had held her in his arms and she’d rested her head on his muscular chest throughout the movie. Since he had booked the cinema hall for private viewing, it was just them and no one else in there. She remembers how her cheeks flushed at his every touch. One moment he played with her curls, twirling them around in his long fingers. Another moment, he touched the tip of her every nail, pressing them lightly before moving to the next one. At one point, he tipped her chin and told her that he was crazily in love with her and being with her was perhaps the most beautiful experience he’d had. It was at this moment that Mia upped the ante by landing a soft kiss on his lips. He was, at first, shocked! But it didn’t take him long to respond.
Rocked in the lullaby of her beautiful memories with Adam, Mia fell into a deep sleep.

Amaya strides steadily in her 6-inch heels and violet figure hugging dress that showed off her beautiful figure. She ignores the stares that follow her sexy strut. It is not uncommon for slim, pencil thin women to stare her curvaceous figure rocking in those heels. She has felt proud whenever it happened, in fact. She let them stare as she knocked on Adam's glass door. He look up with a scowl, perhaps because his work had been suddenly disrupted that too by an unknown woman. The scowl changed into a question mark. Amaya asked if she could come in and take a seat. Adam obliged.
'Mr. Adam, I'm terribly sorry for walking in unannounced like this,' she started off.
'Well, might as well get to the point then. I've got a meeting in 10,' he stressed.
'OK then...I'm Amaya Reena, a wedding planner,' she introduced herself confidently.
'Ah, you didn't say. I was considering you for.....nevermind. Do tell me what brings you here? ' he asked more politely this time around, a small smile decorating his handsome face.
'Well, I've been asked to plan a high profile wedding this June, it's such a sudden request but I couldn't reject it. I met the bride last weekend and could not help feel sorry for her. She must be the most unhappy bride ever. Seems like she's being forced into it, ' she said calmly.
'I don't understand. What does this have to do with me. I'm not the one getting married! ,' he stressed suddenly, showing his displeasure of being dragged into something totally irrelevant to him.
It was clear that the man had wanted to marry Mia, had he gotten the chance. Maybe he might, if he played along.
'Actually you may have something to do with it. This girl's name is Mia and she somehow broke down to me when I asked her about her fondest memory with the man she loves. She just said Adam and became hysterical,' she added to make her story more dramatic.
Adam's face changed. He kept silent and so she went on 'This poor girl is being forced into marriage by this business tycoon Jack. She was just so broken. Perhaps the most unhappy bride I've seen. All I did was ask her what made her so broken. That's when she poured out to me.,' she said.
Adam had a reaction she could hardly read. Was it anger or sadness she saw? He stared hard at the papers on his desk. When he looked at her, his eyes glinted in tears. Amaya felt her own eyes tear. Gosh, she couldn't blow it up now!
'So when I heard her story, I felt I needed to do something for the poor girl. Which is why I'm here today. I feel it isn't fair for a woman to love a man this much, yet marry someone she despises,' she says.
'Hmmmm...I'm not sure what to say...,' his voice trailed off.
'I've said what I came to say. I will make a move now, Mr.Adam. Goodbye then...,' she says while getting up to leave.
'Wait! Err...Amaya...will you please tell Mia to call me? I need to know from her, for real. Please...,' he begged desperately.
She nodded and left without saying another word.
She knew her phase 1 of the plan had worked, as planned.

Jack took a look at his magnificent reflection smiling dangerously at him. He was the epitome of a sexy bad boy. He had gotten the exotic looking Dayana to drop by and give him a full body scrub, the best kind of facial and even a haircut. He loved the way she tried to seduce him but she’d have to wait for later. Right now, he was preparing for the biggest moment, one he had been waiting patiently for the longest time.
She was coming to him, coming back to him for good. He wanted to look his best for her. He wanted her to look at him and forget everything bad that ever happened between them. He longed to hold her, just like he did back then. She was so fragile, so in need of his protection back then. He took her under his wings and groomed her to become the goddess she is today. When she needed money, he splurged on her more than she asked for. When she needed education, he paid for her degree even before she could step into Taylor’s University. When she was emotionally wrecked, he dropped everything to wipe her tears and hold her tight. Yet, she had left him. She had shattered him in a way he never knew anyone could. And she had moved on so easily, with no trace of pain as opposed to him. He suffered in every way a man could, he cried behind closed doors. He just stopped living for a while. That’s when his biggest yacht deal kicked off. He had the opportunity to become 10 times richer which he seized hungrily. He poured every inch of himself into work and the result is what he is today; one of youngest, not to forget, hottest millionaires in the country. Let her come and let her beg for him to take her back.
He walked out of his private cabin, up onto the main deck where the crowd were being delighted to the finest champagne, caviar and what not. On his biggest yacht, Viva Mia Amor, stood guests from across the country. Wealthy men and women were decked in their finest designer wear. His sexy Russian waitresses strutted around in their French maid outfits, making men drool with desire. His buffed bouncers were positioned at all corners of the room, making the ladies, young and old go gaga. He knew this game too well. He had played a dozen times. He knew how to bring friends and foes together, making them forget themselves in this floating heaven of desire. To top it all, he had every kind of designer drug made available to anyone who needed it. This would be an unforgettable party.
It is when he was immersed in his glory that he saw her. She stepped onto the lower deck, looking resplendent in her chilli red off shoulder cocktail dress which hugged her curvaceous body like a second skin. Her curls were swept and teased into a messy pile which made her look sexier than he’d imagine she could be. Her skin glowed against the dress. He wanted her so badly at that very moment but that would have to wait. He needed to be sure that she was truly coming back for good. He needed her to beg for her place. Giving in too easily was not plan part of his plan but looking at her made him want to forget everything and run over to her. He remained where he was, eyeing her every step as she moved closer to where he was. She didn’t look at him, not even once since she had gotten on-board. Her best friend, Mia was right beside her. Jack owed the girl for it is she who came to him bearing the best news he’d heard in years. Mia wanted to meet him and talk. Talk and more is what he had to offer his precious Mia. If she danced to his music, she’d be the queen of this and every other property he owned. She inched closer and it is then that she looked up, right into his brown eyes. He stood transfixed, sipping in every inch of her beautiful face.
“Hi Jack,”she said, just as she always did.

She looked at Jack, grinning at her with his dazzling razor eyes. He was the king here. He certainly was the one man everyone could not peel their eyes from. He always chose an all-black tuxedo for occasions like this because knew how good he looked in it. Black made him look more dangerous, more desirable. Her heart did never ending somersaults. Old memories swept past her. He was a wonderful man back then. While arrogance was always part of him, kindness was something he kept well hidden inside him. Perhaps she was the only one who benefited from his kind heart. He’d given her what many men could not and would not give. He was her very first love, the love she could never overcome no matter how long it took. He was rough and reckless in every way yet he was sensual and suave for her alone. He was someone else when he was with her.
As amazing as a man he was, there was something far worse inside him. He was revengeful for the slightest of matters. He blew his top every single day, spitting venom at her in every instance. It began with words. His words were like daggers which stab deep into her being and remained there. His words would hurt her so deeply that she’d remember not to make any mistake for the fear of hearing those words again. Slowly, the words turned into slaps and then kicks. In a short period of time, it became ruthless beatings, which was always followed by rough, soulless sex. Sex was his way of saying sorry or perhaps his way of showing he owned her. The only mistake she made through it all was to remain scared for she loved him and only him, despite everything else. She still found some kind of goodness when he came back to himself. He was loving and cared about everything that mattered to her. How could she hate him? She eventually did hate him because he split her open so wide, she was irreparable. She remembers how happy she’d been when she found out she was carrying his baby. It was out of wedlock but she knew he’d be the happiest man and would make wedding plans the moment he knew. She would have the beautiful wedding he had promised her. Her dreams vanished the moment she walked in announced into his bedroom. There he was, deeply locked in a kiss with a woman. She had to clear her throat to get them to stop. Only then did she realize that it was Yana, his secretary. Before she knew it, hot tears streamed down her cheeks. She turned and ran as fast her legs could carry her. She never looked back. Not till today.
‘Mia, look at you…so ravishing you are,’ he whispered as she stood looking at him, not knowing how to react. She needed to play the part right if she wanted Adam back. She inched closer and threw her arms around his neck, whispering ‘Hey baby, I’ve missed you,’. He looked stunned at her directness. He knew he had to do what he’d failed to do in the first place. He called for the crowd’s attention and there in front of them all, he announced the gorgeous woman next to him as the queen of his empire. Mia shuddered yet remained calm. She put on a smile yet ensured her eyes carried the sadness of her heart. Perhaps, it was indeed time to give Jack a taste of his own medicine.
From afar, Adam stood on his yacht, Monroe watching everything silently as the evening unfolded. He could see Mia clearly, with a slight smile but worried eyes or was it scared eyes. The wedding planner was right. She didn’t look her happy self. He had only seen that version of her when she at his side, opening her heart. How stupid had he been to ignore this precious woman. He had to draw a plan to take down Jack and redeem the woman he loved.
