I stood so near the flame
And look into its glow
Such warmth I found while there
And found it mine alone
I got lost within that fire
That engulfed me without an end
And filled my heart with love
For the heat was like a friend
I know now that I’ll never be
Alone and in the dark
As long as I have this flame
That has warmed my very heart.

Well thank you. I'm fascinated by candles and fireplaces etc. I think they can be quiet lovely to watch and seem to have a life of their own but of course I was talking about something deeper here. Thank you in any case for reading and for your kind words and comment. I very much appreciate it.

Very well expressed, and beautifully worded, Jim. As long as we keep that flame inside us, we aren't alone - how true! Very heartfelt poem. It's an interesting coincidence, I just posted a short story with the same message, called "The Light Side" :)
