I sometimes hate looking at you for you always tell me the truth whether I want to know it or not.

You do not lie, you do not pamper my fragile ego with falsehoods meant to booster me

and make me feel better about myself these days.

You simply are because that is what you do.

Once upon a time though I loved being near you

I felt you lift me up, singing my praises.

Bah!

How times have changed.

At least for me.

You though you are still there haunting me with details I would rather not know now or to look

to closely for the truth is not always kind.

What do you care?

And yet how can I hate you for being what you are,

what you have always been.

You didn't change.

I did.

Me, a simple human being who has to come to terms that my youth has long left me behind.

In exchange for wisdom and experience as they say.

These things you can't always see on the outside

Only the lines that reflect every mile I've ever walked down.

You on the other hand are what you are and will always be.

You are the mirror.
