Gaming is often associated to addiction, loss of sense of reality and human interactions. However, gamification is the concept more and more often entering business, academics and everyday life.
Games are engaging and thus can be used to turn any boring or unpleasant activity into fun task. There are already some great examples of how learning is made playful, physical exercising gets
easier to commit, playing while going through medical treatment makes the procedures easier to go through or even made more effective. I expressed my idea on how games can solve a social problem,
make an activity more engaging, discussed pros and cons of gamification and reviewed best examples encountered.

It’s the year 2018; we are at an age where the idea of electric cars and humanoid robots is a tenable theory. Life at this juncture is practically unimaginable without the technology we enjoy today. A crucial aspect of technology in the evolution of life today are video games. These electronically manipulated images fulfill competence through flow which is met in games when a game challenges the player enough so that it is still interesting, making the gamer want to continue to play.

According to ActiVision, the creators of Call of Duty, players cumulatively spend the equivalent of 1900 years playing Call of Duty... every day. In that amount of time in the real world, communication has evolved from the days of the incunabula to the use of satellites, automobiles were invented and computers shrank from the size of a warehouse to fit in the palm of your hand. While all you did was stack up a 27-kill streak. These gamers often throw around the term “escapism” when talking about their hobby, but the gamers’ imagination and physical, cognitive and emotional strengths are unconsciously being developed. While many of us focus on crosswords and Sodoku puzzles, there is no denying that computer games may be able to help. Just think about the amount that your brain must do while you’re playing these games. There is more to Tooth and Tail than just leading a revolution with an army of flame-throwing Boars, mustard gas-lobbing Skunks, and paratrooper-puking Owls. It helps the gamers train their brain to come up with creative ways to face the challenges of clashing ideals, political alliances and government insurrection. In these ways, games can change our thinking behavior so that we can learn to make wiser, more ethical decisions in real-life scenarios.

Evidently, most units now can connect online and chat to other people who are playing games. Some of the chats are live and through headsets, while others are through forums connected to the games. Competition between gamers is formed as they jockey for status and recognition. Video games are a safe place to express these competitive urges. As the gamers get to know themselves, connections are built in life. Therefore, one may find his social skills improve while playing games.

“Do your hubby get paid for it.” It is one of the most common sentiments you will hear when trying to decide a career path. Video games forum are awash with what are perhaps somewhat embellished tales of the financial rewards available, but there can be more than a few pennies to be made if you are shrewd. Sahil Arora, who goes by the alliance ‘UNiVeRsE’ is the world’s highest eSports earner with roughly $3 million! The financial benefits may seem absurd for this career path but it takes extra motivation and hours of dedicated practice to become well established. If a gamer can go the extra mile, it will only be a matter of time before he travels extensively and sees his face plastered on billboards and packages.

Lastly, video games improve our life skills. In many video games you start out with more than one ‘life’. Straight away, this tells you that failure is acceptable. A lot of the play consists of failing to reach a goal. This encourages persistence and grit. These skills will reflect on other activities in the gamer’s life.

All these can only be made possible if violence from these games are not adopted. The world has been molded and shaped today by the characters we grow to love and adore, and hopefully, as video games continue to make leaps into a new future, so shall we.
