Contradictory Demands

They all are wanting something but that something is not the same,

trying to keep up with these demands, it’s like some real sick game.

What is right for one, is just the wrong thing for another

and any hope of coping, it quickly goes to smother.

A lose lose situation, winning there can never be,

and for all the failures – just heap the blame on me.

Compassion is my enemy, I understand them all,

and that very understanding is what brings me to fall.

Do what YOU think is best, you need to take some care’,

the problem is I’ve lost myself and I’m no longer there.

Just random thoughts and compromise, and don’t forget the guilt,

for these are all the pieces that, from together I am built.

I cannot put myself first and that’s a truth that will persist

for somehow, along with these demands, I simply don’t exist.
