Little sad poem. Been gone for a while, getting over some writers block. :)

Happiness is an elusive little thing

One day I have it

My smile is the brightest out there

The next, I wonder where I left it

I check under the bed, in my backpack

I lost it again

Happiness and I are like that high school couple

On-again, off-again

No one keeps up with it anymore

Is she happy this week? No? Well, what's new anyways?

Is she smiling again? Well, I think she’s been faking it!

Why no one can understand that

Being sad sometimes is alright?

To be completely honest?

I’m just happy that it still comes back to me

I cross my fingers, hoping I?l find it again

Every time

The day I lose it forever

Is the day that I think might have given up

Forever

The last line is fantastic! It's a profound yet lighthearted sort of introspective window for the world to look through. It's philosophical. Emotions are fleeting. We are a roller coaster of feelings...feel the wind....
