I believe I've found my gem.

Now I understand it has it's imperfections,

but it's giving my heart rhythm.

I'm to give every crack it's correction.

'Til my glistening diamond is whole.

Then, and onlly then, will I have fulfilled my role.

What God am I that I decide this change?

For I attempt to fill these cracks.

Yet, I am just a man, am I deranged?

The earth now demands its treasure back,

but I've grown to love these faults.

Filling these cracks was nothing but an insult.

I should've fought nail and tooth.

That precious ore was my pride and joy.

And now here I sit, living proof.

Hold what you love close, lest they be destroyed,

In search of my diamond, every rock I will turn.

This is a lesson I wish I never learned.
