A short story that portrays the meaning of friendship and loyalty and what happens when they are lost.

I Hate

“You hate him.”

“I hate you.”

“He's not like you.”

“You're not like me.”

“So what? We’re friends, aren't we?”

“He's not your friend.”

“You're not my friend.”

“Why are you saying that?”

“You're better than him.”

“I'm better than you.”

“This doesn't sound like you..”

“He's irrelevant.”

“You're irrelevant.”

“I'm your friend..”

“He's not a person. He's a thing. He is replaceable.”

“You're not a person. You're a thing. You're replaceable.”

“You don't mean that. I know you don't.”

“You were using him. For a laugh. Nothing more.”

“I was using you for a laugh. Nothing more.”

“Why are you doing this? What’s wrong? Let me help”

“Why is he still here?”

“Why are you still here?”

“Is someone telling you to do this?”

“Tell me why!”

“Get out of here.”

“Get out of here.”

“This isn't you. I know you. You're my best friend. Stop this. Please.”

“He doesn't know you. This is you.”

“You don't know me. This is me.”

“Someone is telling you to do this..”

“You make your own decisions.”

“I make my own decisions.”

“You're lying. I know you are. I know you are.”

“This has gone on long enough.”

“This has gone on long enough.”

“Don't do this.. You’re better than this.”

“Get him out of the way.”

“Get out of my way.”

“Please don't leave..” That’s when the tears started.

“Don't leave me… He’s coming...”

“You were never his friend.”

“I was never your friend.”

“I'm so alone.. I can’t do this alone..”

“Leave him.”

“Leave me alone.”

“Not you too.. You're all I have.. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.. I can’t do it.” Tears streamed his face as the chair fell over.

“He wasn't your friend. You didn't need him. He needed you.”

“He was my friend. I needed him. We needed each other..  Why did I listen to you? I hate myself..I did this...” He looked up with blood-red eyes. “No, you did this…” His palms bled as his nails, clenched so tightly to his hand, made a shaky fist. “I. Hate. You.”

Whoa! This was some powerful write. It's not easy to tell a story just through dialogue, but you made a great job of it here!
