“Come here” one said as it cooed at the young man. “You know I'm your favorite”

“No. I'm your favorite” another spoke up, trying to get his attention.

The young man looked at them both and scratched his chin.

Another spoke up now off to one side. “You know you like spending time with me. Pick me”

  “No, pick me” cried another.

“No, no. Me me. Pick me. You know you have always loved me” it said.

The young man stood perplexed now. There was so many he did love and it was hard to just pick one. He looked at them all, smiling silently to himself.

“Which one?” he asked himself, almost in a whisper. He look over at the bed and thought which one he wanted to spend the evening with.

“You know I always make you laugh” one called out to him, causing him to turn and look. “That's true” he thought.

“And I make you forget the troubles of your day” another said, whispering softly at him.

“You should pick me. Not them. I make you happy. You said so yourself” another spoke up.

The young man studied them all for a moment. It was so hard to pick just one. “I wished I could take you all with me to bed. I would. But it has to be just one of you” he said to himself as he studied them all one by one.

They all waited patiently for him to choose one of them, all hoping it would be them this night to spend with him. He was after all, all of their favorites as well. They loved him dearly because he had gotten so into all of them and they adored him for that.

He scratched his chin as he pondered which one to take with him to his bed. Finally he moved over to a new book on his book case. “I shall read you tonight. I haven't read you yet” he said to himself as he looked at the book cover and gently touched the book in his hand.

The rest of the books all made a sad sigh but understood that everyone should have their chance, even the newbie to the book case.

The young man glanced over at the book case one last time as he made his way towards his bed. “I love you all. You are all my favorites but tonight I pick this one” he said before he crawled up into his bed, fluffed his pillows up a bit, put on his glasses and laid back, prepared to get lost into another wonderful story.
